Visited there for a couple of hours. We're a young married couple and we didn't understand for what the fas is all about. Nice gardens but that's it. Ow and don't do the mistake of eating in the inner restaurant. The food was terrible.

We enjoyed our tour of the botanical gardens while visiting Kandy. We had seen the temple of the tooth already and had a few hours to kill before the dance show, so we went here. Although we are not biologists or tree enthusiasts of any sort, this place was cool. The bamboo forest is a nice make out spot too.

Nice place to visit. Cool trees and bats flying everywhere... Not mind blowing but a pleasant way to spend ~2 hours. Would recommend a visit.

It was so peaceful to get away from the busy traffic and spend some hours in the beautiful gardens - we could have spent all day there as there is so much to see. It is well maintained and very clean and tidy. The orchid house was my favourite place. Everything looks so healthy. Things grow very well in that... More

The Botanical Gardens are a must visit for any traveler visiting Kandy, Central Province. It's nature's beauty at its best & the sheer lush greens of the Garden are overwhelming.

Loads of fruit bats that are so plentiful hanging off the trees that they look like... Fruit. So look up! I liked the suspension bridge, the orchid house (it's worth really taking time to look at the flowers close up, they have special differences like resembling a ghost or a dove or a spider). Also the celebrity tree planting area,... More

The Royal Botanical Gardens are worth visiting a whole day if you like parks. Meticulously kept and trimmed, wonderful orchids, peace and quiet, beautiful trees, of all sizes from just a few feet to almost as high as sequoia’s and some trees with a crown so wide that you could build a large bungalow under it and use the branches... Nicely kept gardens, with a long history. See the office building of Lord louis Mountbatton, commander of the South east Asian allied forces during the WW2. Tip - Get a buggy ride, Worth the money as you get to cover the entire garden and the driver acts as a guide.

The Orchid house here offers a captivating display of exotic blooms of Cattleya, Dendrobium, Arachnis, Oncidium, Vanda and their hybrids, several hardy tropical orchids including the largest orchid in the world (Grammatophyllum speciosum) which produces flower spikes up to 2.5 m long and the green orchid ( Coelogyne meyeriana) can also be seen near the orchid house

Botanical garden is beautiful, but entry is very expensive at 1000Rs ($8). Big trees are really amazing. Seen thousands of Macaque monkeys over asia, but these ones loved posing for pictures, got some great shots. The 'flying dogs' (big fruit bats) come out at dusk, will recommend that you plan your visit that you are still around for thousands of... More
