Get the forest’s different perspective, take a close look from above! You can be eye to eye with the birds and animals of the rainforest while sitting comfortably in the seat of our Swiss-engineered aerial tram system. Gliding smoothly through the tree tops, you will experience firsthand the sounds and peace of the deep tropical rainforest. One of the Gamboa’s tour guides will accompany you to describe the flora and fauna that you will see. The 1.2-kilometer ride culminates at a hill top where you have the opportunity to visit the Observation Tower. After walking up the spiral ramp, you will discover a panoramic view of the Chagres River, Panama Canal, Embera Indigenous Village, and the Town of Gamboa. All surrounded by lush mountainous rainforest. Recommendations: comfortable clothes, binoculars, water. Departure times: from Tuesday to Sunday. Closed on Mondays for maintenance

The Ariel tram is a great way to see the top of the canopy. You can sore with the birds and get a different perspective of the rain forest. Plus when u climb to the top of the tower u get a 360 degree view. You can see for miles so you can see the canal and the Chagres. Inexpensive... More

The trip included transfers to and from the hotel to the tram, the ride on the tram and a visit to the 90 ft. high observation tower. Our guide, Philip, was wonderful and very knowledgeable. He answered all of our questions and provided a wealth of information about the tram, the tower, the wildlife, the flora and fauna, the area... More

This was a fun experience. We were picked up and brought to a hotel in the Gamboa forest, where we waited for an hour. Then we were taken to the starting point of the tram. It was fun to go through the forest at a height. We didn't see any exciting animals, though we saw a sloth sleeping on a... More

We enjoyed this "float" above the trees of the rainforest. It was totally silent and we whispered as we floated up to the station. Then a 3 minute walk to the viewing tower - you walk up a ramp to the to and a lovely 360 degree view. We thought it was very worth while.

Although a lengthy bus ride from the resort this trip was well worth while. We travelled on the Panama Canal into Gatun lake there we were able to see from the boat 2 different species of monkey and many types of bird, as well as the ships that were travelling through the canal. We also visited the orchid and butterfly... More

We went when it was raining and foggy and there simply was very little to see. The only wildlife we saw was a toucan at a distance. We did, however, hear the howler monkeys and that sound is enough to make your spine crawl. I can't imagine how the original explorers reacted to hearing this sound in the jungle. After... More

While on a Celebrity Equinox cruise in March 2015, my husband and I went on the Gamboa Aerial Tram excursion. It was fabulous! It is an hour long bus ride from the cruise port to the forest but we enjoyed seeing the countryside. We stopped at the resort for a drink and it was gorgeous. We had a tour of... More

My family and I were in the rainforest during spring break, march 2015. I have three teenagers. We boarded the tram and was quite impressed with the english speaking ability of our tour guide and her knowledge of the rainforest. She proceeded to identify each type of tree, flower, vine, and bird that we saw. We even saw monkeys and... More

We hadn't actually planned to take the tram but thought it would be a nice break from bird watching. Well I was blown away. Each tram car has its own guide and the story of the tram development (by a Canadian company) is told. Wild life pointed out. The walk to the tower and up 10 flights on a ramp.... More

This was a highlight of a Costa Rica and Panama Canal tour, and there were many highlights on that tour. The tram makes frequent stops - every time a car loads or unloads at top or bottom. That is great because it gives you more time to try to spot things. Only five passengers permitted per car plus a park... More
