Each wine tasting cost at least 2€ (compared to Boutari 1€ for same quantity) not a lot of explanation and the staff was not very friendly even though it wasn't crowded. We tasted much better wine and had a better (and cheaper experience) at Boutari, which is in the same village

Whilst wandering around a very end of season Megalochori village we stumbled upon this family winery. We were the only ones there and had a personalised tour of the winery. The guide was very knowledgable and friendly. She took time to explain the history of the winery behind these delicious wines which are authentic Santorini wines of real quality, the... More

Since we live in the cradle of superb wineries in the PNW, my expectations are quite high. While this was a pleasant pit stop and interesting to see a Greek run winery, my tastebuds were not impressed. Would recommend fora unique experience however if you're a regular wine consumer, don't expect much. They just started making reds a year ago... More

My two friends, wife and I visited Gavalas after being turned away from a larger nearby winery, and I am thankful that we did. Gavalas has a much more homely and rustic feel to it it, and the attention paid by the lady who served us during our wine tasting was perfect. They had about 8 wines to try, and... More

We visited Gavalas for a wine tasting as we enjoyed one if their wines (Santorini blue bottle) the las night in Anogi restaurant. We were not disappointed by the place and the explanations of the different wines and the particular processes involved in making each of them. The girl who assisted us during the tasting was very helpful and we... More

We had a lovely experience sampling wines and seeing the facility of this old family winery... A walk through the back of the winery tunnel brings you to the center of town filled with beautiful buildings and a great restaurant ... Raki... Take your time and enjoy it all!!

We stopped off here and listened to the description of wine production and the different types of wine. Tasting comes at a small fee (as with most wineries in Santorini) and you can sit in the courtyard and sample the delights of the island's wine production. A number of small cycle groups where there when we went but it was... More

We ended up here following a sign from the main road as the bigger winery close by was closed for a wedding. But this was actually a great choice for some wine testing, the place was very intimate and charming. The tasting was now 1e per glass, which is still very affordable, and there were no big crowds. The wines... More

We heard about a great winery in Megalochori and we thought to give it a try. Megalochori village is a traditional and graphic one and the Gavalas Winery is a very charming traditional family winery. Wine testing costs 0,80 € per glass, a fine price for such intellect wines. We tested all of them, 8 in total, and their names... More

Gavalas is a quaint little family run winery. It has stayed true to itself and not given in to the modern-style like most wineries. The cave-like rooms for the storing wine, stomping the grapes, and the shop make this place unique. The VinSanto was our favorite that we tried while on the Santorini Wine Adventures Tour.
