The beach is very nice, and you can take a medium walk into the special "palm forest", where there also is a bathing possibility at the end of the lagoon. You can buy food and drinks at a little tavern. Unfortunately the paddle boats were all destroyed in a fire some years ago, so they are not available. A lot... More

One of the places you shouldn't miss when you visit Crete. We were here in 2009. You can rent paddle boat and enjoy riding along the river.

One of the best place where I have ever been. The sweet cold and salt warm water mix are fanatastic! :)

Beach was pleasant but nothing amazing (IMO) We got there by following signs to Palm Beach / Preveli Beach, which led us along a very bumpy dirt road. Don't be like us.

Amazing beach, right in the middle of nowhere. We done an excursion to here which was around 20 euros plus an extra 10 euros for the boat trip to get you to the beach. If you are hiring a car and you want to get to this beach I would suggest you get to Palakias bay then catch a boat.... More

Ducks in what you call 'the beach', river to wash away salty water (instead of showers), amazing palm trees forest. River crossing the beach makes it unique. Difficult to access but totally worth the efforts.

Worth a drive and the walk. Note beach accessible by a long walk (5km?!?) from a car park by a cafe or approx 500 steps down a steep rocky hill from the car park by the Church (little shop and cafe here too!)! Lovely sandy strip between the salt water sea and a fresh water mountain stream! Beautiful view over... More

we walked there from Preveli rooms and it took about 10 minutes, better to walk in some sport shoes but we had flip flops and managed that too :) The beach is nice and the palm forest behind the river is also impressive.

Heaven on earth...except for the people and their garbage. I'm a little worried about going to heaven now because I just realized that there will be other people there... It is extremely worth going but go early in the day and claim a piece of beach at the opposite end of the river.
