Great beach, bring shade. Drive down a nightmare!

This is well worth seeking out, but don't make our mistake and attempt to go by road. We'd heard that you can drive and park at the monastery and walk down the steep steps, but as... read more

We stayed right on the other side of the cove in Preveli rent rooms and it was excellent. We arrived in small Fiat 500 via the gravel road from Kerames and trust me, there was more than one small car. So don´t be affraid to drive there, just be careful. This is well worth seeking out, but don't make our mistake and attempt to go by road. We'd heard that you can drive and park at the monastery and walk down the steep steps, but as we drove close we saw a road sign. Mistake!! It is a very steep, very narrow, lumpy perilous path that was barely wide enough... More

This a health warning. Go by boat. I believe there may be an alternative route somewhere but the usual quarry route is positively dangerous and not for the faint-hearted. Travelling around the west of Crete and having already willingly taken some terrifying routes to get to faraway beaches, this was definitely 100 times worse than the rest. And the worst... More

It is one of the most beautiful places in Crete. Not because of the beach itself, or the river, but mostly due to the palm forest, the walk in which is breathtaking. I've visited it at least three times, and one of them was in the winter (!). The biggest problem is the road to reach the place. You can... More

This beach is well worth a bash - it can e accessed from near the Preveli Monastery down a long and exciting track (ie a linear quarry) , but there is a much easier and newer road that comes in from the east and can be accessed from around Spili - its longer but easier on the suspension. There is... More

Go there and explore the Palm forest and the river. Swim in the cold and crystal water of the river and let yourself to enjoy that exotic paradise on Earth.

Great beach with food and drinks at hand. Loved the fact that we could wash sands off our body and feet right there, before getting back into our rented car. The Greek restaurants along the beach looked friendly with appetising menus. Parking our car in busy August month was fine. Will come back again and enjoy a tanning session on... More

We took a day trip to preveli beach on a bus and a short boat ride couple hours travelling but certainly wasn't disappointed. Nestled in a gorge with clear waters and the palm forest it's just the perfect setting. The walk through the Palm forest up the river and through the gorge is pretty amazing. A must if your staying... More

Fantastic place where you can swim both in fresh and sea water, since the river end in the sea! The scenery is like it was set for a movie and the sea water is crystal clear. Perfect choice to spend your day.

The beach is beautiful and characteristic because it is reached by a river (where you can swim). You reach the beach from the top of a cliff and the view is very nice. It is hard to reach by car; you have to travel through a bad dirt road and the beach is often crowded. In my opinion in Crete... More
