I stayed for a week in Cape Verde and simply this is the most extraordinary experience you could have there. Skip the beaches and go climb Pico do Fogo!

If you HATE flys and heights this is not the attraction for you. This volcano is a beast, prepare yourself for a workout. My hotel set my friend and I up with a guide that spoke English and was able to navigate us through the "trails" and give us information about the crater. There are flys everywhere... millions of them... More

we hired a taxi for one day ( about € 50 ) to visit the huge crater area of the Pico do Fogo. It was a fantastic trip with a beautiful scenery and a feeling like a ride on the Moon or even the Mars. In the caldera we enjoyed some really good lokal wine. We stayed 4 nights in... More

I was atraccted to Fogo and specifically to the village of Cha for the recommendation of a voyageur not a mass tourist and it exceeded my wildest dreams. The spectacular volcanic landscape and the possibilities of trekking plus the magnificent conditions for stargazing and the warmth of the people made me feel at home since I arrived.Cha forms part of an... My second stay with Jose. I was his first customer in 2012. Simple clean accommodation, Uninterupetd view on pico from terrace.. The best food I had in 5 weeks in Cabo Verde.Local meals.Local ingredients. And if Jose takes you dancing at Rameros, you`ll remember it ! I shall be going back when I do the crater rim and via ferrata.... More

You have to hire a guide and start hiking early in the morning but it is worth all efforts! The view from the top is wonderful and try to go down via the "Small Pico" running into the lava stones. An unforgettable experience!

I loved the hike, but you must prepare your best boot and a few bottle of water. It is an uphill walk for about 2h30 hours. The view is out of this world, you will enjoy pace along the trail. Take make pictures.

We took a daytrip from Boa Vista to Fogo and is was worth the cost. But it was not cheap. The smallish aircraft flew low so we could see the various islands en route and it waited all day for us to return. Driving up de side of this huge volcano is in itself an experience. The island is littered... More
