There is something for everybody. Rathwood, is particularly famous for its Express Train which takes you around the extensive forest grounds, watch out for the deer and sheep along the way and see if you can spot their newly born offspring. It even has a little stop off at the pond to allow you to feed the ducks and geese with food provided by the Train driver. In addition, Rathwood offers attractions such as the Falconry, which is an outdoor educational Bird of Prey Centre where eagles, hawks, falcons and owls from around the world can be seen on display; free Forest walks, with two easy trails that the whole family can enjoy; free children’s playground; cookery classes for both adults and children; deer park and much, much more. Having heard so much about how good and magical this was I was really looking forward to going with our 6 and 4 year old. Went at 6.30 on a cold Friday evening so had all the atmosphere. Started off well in little holding room and with Mrs clause story's but dramatically downhill after that. Jack Frost appeared and all... More

Just back from our visit to the Santa Train in Rathwood today, hugely dissappointed. To think we had to book tickets for that experience back in September is unbelievable. How they recruit the elves for this place,i dont know. They were rude, abrupt, cheeky and definately not the right people to have entertaining children. Many of the children including my own were actually frightened by them.Apart from... Would advise strongly bringing kids to Rathwood Santa train, started off good with Mrs Claus but went downhill after that. Male elf's in their late teens, early twenties are a terrible idea. Young kids, not just ours were scared by them. They were loud and not suited to entertaining children. Really disappointing for our lads. Whole experience leaves you feeling... More

I heard so much about R.Wood, On first arrival I was impressed and expected it to be a great experience for my family. The reindeer food was great along with the face paints, then onto Mrs. Clause who was great & the doctor. Out to the train with Jack Frost who looked homeless and was very "in your face". When... It was our second visit to Rathwood and a disappointing one at that compared to last year were we felt more effort and attention was made whereas this year it was more hurried and lacked effort - more money driven, get them in and out as quick as possible type feel to it, Jack Frost was loud and in your... We went back the next day and had lunch, the food was OK I expected more from the lunch, it was a little disappointing.... More

Last year we went to causey farm and had a great experience. Rathwood was recommended to us by a friend so we decided to give it a try. And we regret it. The opening is ok, you wait in a holding area and then get a warm up by Mrs Claus and her Doc helper. To be honest they were... More

We recently brought my 3 & a half year old daughter & 19th month old son to Rathwood Santa train. My daughter really enjoyed it from collecting food for Rudolph to meeting Mrs Clause & trip on train to see Santa. The only let down was the toys received,my daughter received a teddy & my son a toy that straps... More

Travelled from Co. Louth specifically for the Santa Train, stayed over locally and did the train yesterday. Well worth the trip. Decent food in the restaurant for lunch, play area for the kids before the train and a well organised and novel way to meet the great man himself. Kids, aged seven and three, loved it. Didn't have a chance... More
