Rathwood is one of the most popular visitor attractions in Ireland with charming activities that everyone from Grandparents to Grandchildren can enjoy together; free children’s playground, Express train, woodland walks, birds of prey centre and restaurant as well as an array of shops. There is something for everybody. Rathwood, is particularly famous for its Express Train which takes you around the extensive forest grounds, watch out for the deer and sheep along the way and see if you can spot their newly born offspring. It even has a little stop off at the pond to allow you to feed the ducks and geese with food provided by the Train driver. In addition, Rathwood offers attractions such as the Falconry, which is an outdoor educational Bird of Prey Centre where eagles, hawks, falcons and owls from around the world can be seen on display; free Forest walks, with two easy trails that the whole family can enjoy; free children’s playground; cookery classes for both adults and children; deer park and much, much more. Furthermore they house an excellent restaurant which offers an array of delicious lunch dishes and tempting home baking. They are famous for their scrumptious chocolate mud pie and double layered pavlova and all Rathwood's cakes are baked daily by their talented Pastry Chef Margaret, who has been with them for over 18 years. Special diets eg coeliacs are catered for with a delicious selection of gluten free meals and treats. Rathwood hosts a number of special seasonal events throughout the year and advance booking is highly recommended eg The Santa Train - Ireland’s most popular Santa visit with magic and interactive fun with Santa, Mrs Claus and the Elves. The Rathwood Centre in addition to their attraction host an array of shops for you, your family, home and garden. Rathwood has something for the whole family that will make you want to return time and time again.

We brought our almost 3 year old son here for the Christmas experience and we were blown away by it! So much effort put in to make it magical for both children and adults! Will definitely be making it an annual tradition!!

Very poor quality food, untrained restaurant staff, desserts better. Was looking forward to eating here had heard good things. Menu sounded good today and I went for the soup and volavont. The. Soup was average vegetable soup. The sauce with the volavont was overly salty/Luke warm and didn't taste of anything else, the chips were cold. I went to pay and... More

A shopper's dream! Rathwood is a wonderful place for the whole family. It has a playground and animals for children. A river walk and also the most beautiful range of household goods, boutiques and garden shop.i could happily spend several hours here- along with lots of money! - also, fabulous restaurant for lunch or coffee. Spent half a day at the Rathwood centre with our young ones, after hearing great things about it from friends. It feels a little like Avoca Handweavers, with similar style shops/products, cafe-style restaurant with outdoor seating and garden centre. However, there are also some lovely family-friendly features here, such as the train tour across the grounds, which includes a forest,... More

Came to this after good reports from others. We thought it was very poor. Little or nothing to look at on the train trip for the children. No hot chocolate provided despite ticket saying so. Won't be going back as kids weren't impressed at all. Sort of just ends abruptly and you're left there. Collection of eggs and putting into... More

Having been here before for the Hallowe'en Hunt, we decided to give the Easter Egg hunt a try. We were booked for the 10h20 hunt, and the girl was in with us withing 2 minutes of the time, which was really good. I accept having a group and trying to keep all entertained is a thankless job but in all... More

We had such a great time on the Easter Train with our detective Mario full of energy and fun making the hunt a good laugh for every one. The room the Easter Bunny was in was well decorated and we were entertained with jokes and stories and the little extras the magic bunny ears, the food for the geese and... More

Just this past weekend we booked to go on the Bo-Peep Train ride and I have to say it was fantastic. In fact the kids loved it to bits. From the arrival, the receptionist was very pleasant. While waiting for the time to go we could walk around the shop area, which has so much to offer it would take... More
