Description: Rathwood is one of the most popular visitor attractions in Ireland with...
Rathwood is one of the most popular visitor attractions in Ireland with charming activities that everyone from Grandparents to Grandchildren can enjoy together; free children’s playground, Express train, woodland walks, birds of prey centre and restaurant as well as an array of shops. There is something for everybody. Rathwood, is particularly famous for its Express Train which takes you around the extensive forest grounds, watch out for the deer and sheep along the way and see if you can spot their newly born offspring. It even has a little stop off at the pond to allow you to feed the ducks and geese with food provided by the Train driver. In addition, Rathwood offers attractions such as the Falconry, which is an outdoor educational Bird of Prey Centre where eagles, hawks, falcons and owls from around the world can be seen on display; free Forest walks, with two easy trails that the whole family can enjoy; free children’s playground; cookery classes for both adults and children; deer park and much, much more. Furthermore they house an excellent restaurant which offers an array of delicious lunch dishes and tempting home baking. They are famous for their scrumptious chocolate mud pie and double layered pavlova and all Rathwood's cakes are baked daily by their talented Pastry Chef Margaret, who has been with them for over 18 years. Special diets eg coeliacs are catered for with a delicious selection of gluten free meals and treats. Rathwood hosts a number of special seasonal events throughout the year and advance booking is highly recommended eg The Santa Train - Ireland’s most popular Santa visit with magic and interactive fun with Santa, Mrs Claus and the Elves. The Rathwood Centre in addition to their attraction host an array of shops for you, your family, home and garden. Rathwood has something for the whole family that will make you want to return time and time again.

Brought my 5 and 3 year old to the teddy bears picnic. Had a great day. Staff were so friendly. Great value for money. Gift shop and restaurant were great. Kids didn't want to leave, so much to see and do. Highly recommended!

Visited today with our 7 and 8 year olds. From the start the staff were brilliant. Lovely and friendly especially Goldylocks :) Lovely facilities. Unfortunately the weather wasn't great today so we couldn't make use of the large playground. The picnic itself was great fun. The kids really enjoyed it. Highly recommended.

Great place with a large playground outdoors while the parents take turns wandering around the shops and garden centre which are amazing. Excellent coffee shop/restaurant on site. For the children the maze and train take up a good two hours and then its picnic time. Would recommend for a family day out.

Visited here with the family. Our 2.5 year old loved the train and stopping to Feed the docks. Excellent playground beside Cafe Area. Food in Cafe was very good and we spent a few hours here and enjoyed the visit. Will return very soon .

Just returned home from the teddy bears picnic in Rathwood, and I have to say it was fantastic. We were met by a very warm and friendly girl at recreation, who gave us all the information that we needed. We arrived 30 mins early to book in,so it gave us time to look around the gift shop and garden centre. They... More

Somehow this doesn't seem to get much of a mention on the website but this is a brilliant activity for children and adults alike. My autistic teenager loved the space and layout and it was a perfect activity for huge whole family. So accessible.

Travelled last Friday to the teddy bears picnic with my almost four year old daughter and it was such a fabulous day, despite the horrible Irish summer we're having!!! In advance of going, I had looked for reviews but couldn't find any specific to this event so I hope this helps others. The whole day was enjoyable from start to... More
