Rathwood is one of the most popular visitor attractions in Ireland with charming activities that everyone from Grandparents to Grandchildren can enjoy together; free children’s playground, Express train, woodland walks, birds of prey centre and restaurant as well as an array of shops. There is something for everybody. Rathwood, is particularly famous for its Express Train which takes you around the extensive forest grounds, watch out for the deer and sheep along the way and see if you can spot their newly born offspring. It even has a little stop off at the pond to allow you to feed the ducks and geese with food provided by the Train driver. In addition, Rathwood offers attractions such as the Falconry, which is an outdoor educational Bird of Prey Centre where eagles, hawks, falcons and owls from around the world can be seen on display; free Forest walks, with two easy trails that the whole family can enjoy; free children’s playground; cookery classes for both adults and children; deer park and much, much more. Furthermore they house an excellent restaurant which offers an array of delicious lunch dishes and tempting home baking. They are famous for their scrumptious chocolate mud pie and double layered pavlova and all Rathwood's cakes are baked daily by their talented Pastry Chef Margaret, who has been with them for over 18 years. Special diets eg coeliacs are catered for with a delicious selection of gluten free meals and treats. Rathwood hosts a number of special seasonal events throughout the year and advance booking is highly recommended eg The Santa Train - Ireland’s most popular Santa visit with magic and interactive fun with Santa, Mrs Claus and the Elves. The Rathwood Centre in addition to their attraction host an array of shops for you, your family, home and garden. Rathwood has something for the whole family that will make you want to return time and time again.

This was our second time to visit Rathwood for the Santa experience and we were not disappointed . The kids love this place and we adults find it great value compared to similar attractions in the Dublin area . Everything is so well organised by the staff . You know that you are up against the clock as far as... More

Great place to spend a rainyday. Great household stuff and garden centre. Plenty for kids to do with chocolate factory nearby. Fantastic restaurant with fab deserts.

Brought kids (7 & 8 year olds) to the santa experience in Rathwood yesterday. Truly entertained from the moment we got there, from Mrs Claus & Jackie Frost to the Elves and last but definitely not least Santa himself. Santa gave each child as much time as they needed and at no time did we feel rushed. Hats off to... More

I see someone below was very disappointed with the Halloween train but I think this is very unfair. Any train that is sold as being Wizard of Oz themed is obviously for young children and not for children who are almost teens! My niece is turning 6 soon and she was absolutely enthralled. She believed it so much that she... More

Visited on 30 October, 2015. Two little girls were absolutely enthralled by the Rathwood train trip into the forest, where we saw the Wizard of Oz' house and the Witch's house. Dorothy and the Scare Crow acted as tour guides, and the Lion made an appearance. Perhaps childish imagination and innocence are required, but my 4 and 7 year old... More

We spent two nights in Mount Wolseley and had booked the train ride. We were expecting a lot due to the rave reviews of the santa train. We were met by dorothy and scarecrow who brought us to a train where we literally spent 5 mins . Got out an walked to a small tree house where a recorded voice... More
