There is something for everybody. Rathwood, is particularly famous for its Express Train which takes you around the extensive forest grounds, watch out for the deer and sheep along the way and see if you can spot their newly born offspring. It even has a little stop off at the pond to allow you to feed the ducks and geese with food provided by the Train driver. In addition, Rathwood offers attractions such as the Falconry, which is an outdoor educational Bird of Prey Centre where eagles, hawks, falcons and owls from around the world can be seen on display; free Forest walks, with two easy trails that the whole family can enjoy; free children’s playground; cookery classes for both adults and children; deer park and much, much more. Furthermore they house an excellent restaurant which offers an array of delicious lunch dishes and tempting home baking. They are famous for their scrumptious chocolate mud pie and double layered pavlova and all Rathwood's cakes are baked daily by their talented Pastry Chef Margaret, who has been with them for over 18 years. Special diets eg coeliacs are catered for with a delicious selection of gluten free meals and treats. We visited last Thursday afternoon for the first time with a family group of 3 adults and 5 children. We had fun completing the new "Ireland" maze and took a trip on the little train that runs around the grounds (€5 per head for a combined tkt for both, which we had to ask about, had read about it online... I have been going to Rathwood since the very beginning and truly there was nothing like it - friends and family would relish any opportunity of paying a visit and their sales at Christmas especially were not to be missed. We have been there several time for meals. It is quite a place. I have found the food consistently good be it the hot carvery, homemade soup or generous salads. The desserts... are a real treat, one better than the next. I'm not a fan of Roberts coffee it is a pity a better quality would complement the food. I... More

This shopping location tries to combine a number of things including quality shopping, activities for the family, a garden centre and a restaurant but it doesn't quite succeed in creating what could be an excellent experience. There are a number of quality shops with very pleasant helpful staff such as Deirdre Minogue which sells ladies wear but there are other... More

Absolutely fabulous, I have never enjoyed anything so much. This is a real family experience. It is as close to taking part in a panto as one could get while still having the magic and awe that Santa brings.
