A great visit today! We are greeted as soon as we arrived and treated very well throughout our visit. The staff was very knowledgeable-All of our questions were answered and we had a wonderful time learning about the rocks and gems. After we finished we walked next door to the jewelry store and worked with Matt to pick stones to... More

Good time for the whole family. Kids (8/13) both loved the excitement of the chase for gems. The staff was attentive, knowledgeable, pleasant and helpful. The setting is more attractive than other gems mines on 105, too. We have had experience in at least 3 of the most publicized gem mines in the area over the years, and this is... More

We have been here many times and always have fun finding the different gems in the purchased buckets. We do recommend buying at least the $100 bucket if you want large stones that can be worth something. I have pulled two flawless 2.3 carat Aquamarine gem stones that I had cut and set for $800 and appraised at $4400. There... More

I take my grandchildren to the gem mine, every other year or so, and they always want to go back, even the super sophisticated tweens. The dirt is seeded, so they will find something worth finding, and they love it. We get there early to be in the shade...although it is rarely that hot in the mountains. The water goes... More

First, plan to get messy. Second, take your time and enjoy it! Our kids spent well over an hour sifting through the mud looking for stones. Then the guys that worked there spent probably 20 minutes sorting through them and chatting with us. Kids learned and played and we only spent $32 (2 small buckets). They attached the rocks to... Great fun for young kids and adults. Identify minerals in different sized buckets. Soft through your gem dirt and after a person helps identify what you have. This is tied to a rock shop and jewelry store. Great deals in both shops.

Since it rained for the first two days of our trip we were limited on what to do so we did a lot of gem grubbing. Most if not all of these places have a covered flume where you wash your "ore" and pick out your stones. We grubbed for gems in 5 different places and this place was by... More

While on our honeymoon we thought we would enjoy a little relaxing activity as we had been hiking, riding the motorcylce and whitewater rafting. After looking at the reviews we choose this mining company. We were welcomed by a young gentleman who was very helpful in helping us decided between the different buckets. We ended up purchasing the 14oz ($54)... More

Stopped here back in June while on vacation and had a great time. Will try some of the other gem mines in the area next time but can't say anything bad about this place.

Disclaimer: I've never been to another gem mine besides Foscoe to compare it to. We discovered this place in 1998, and have gone back every 5 years or so since. I have to attribute this to the fact that we always have a great time at Foscoe, and never get tempted to try another place! The people are nice, even... More
