Description: History comes to life at Mont Orgueil Castle, which for over 600 years...
History comes to life at Mont Orgueil Castle, which for over 600 years protected Jersey against French invasion. Explore the network of staircases, towers and secret rooms to discover hidden treasures. Every time you visit you'll discover a staircase you've not seen before opening up into a room where you'll find something new. Discover Hidden artwork commissioned to tell the story of the castle; Climb the turrets to find the medieval ‘wheel', and descend into the cellar to experience the exhibit. Life-size wooden soldiers guard the castle from attack and 'the wounded man' statue shows the fate that could befall those fighting to save the castle from invasion.

Although local to the island we enjoy visiting local heritage site with our son we decided to walk from home to Gorey and just arrived as the weather took a turn for the worse however the ticket office kindly lent us a golf umbrella and we had fabulous fun following the trail game set for children and enjoyed a lovely... My favourite place! Try and visit each time I go to Jersey to at least look, if not go round. Stairs are as you would expect in a castle, a little windy and steep but not too bad. Lovely cafe on the walls where you can sit and eat a Jersey cream tea and lots of rooms off the main... More

Thank you for your lovely review of the castle, we are so pleased that you enjoyed your visit to the castle, it is an iconic building of Jersey and makes an amazing backdrop to any visit to Gorey. The castle has so many staircases to walk up and down, with something to discover at each level. It's a fitness workout... More

There are just enough exhibits with history to keep adults and children engaged and loads of little cubby holes and staircases to go up and down into the various towers and dungeons. The ticket lady advised wisely "the more stairs you go down the more you will see" and she was right! Beautiful views of island and Coast once you... More

A beautiful castle by the sea, with stunning views from all sides! A bit of a climb but well worth the effort. Nice friendly staff (one in costume!). Lots to see, including some unique exhibits tucked away. Kids can dress up as knights or princesses. Small cafe on site serving nice Jersey ice cream. Worth a visit for the views... More

I've visited many castles in my life but this is, by far, the best I've ever been to. We came across it randomly on a rainy day and decided to pop in. SO glad we did. It's absolutely fascinating and the stormy winds and rain just added to it. I won't spoil what's in there by listing it all, but... More

We came on a day when it was raining which wasn't good, the castle was ok but got fed up of seeing the Queen everywhere. Lots of walking so not good for people with health problems. Lots of interesting rooms which lead from secret stairways. Castle is well kept and the staff were lovely. Thought the entrance fee was expensive.

We are sorry you felt that the admission cost was expensive. Offering value for money for our visitors is very important to us, so we annually compare our prices to equivalent museums and attractions. We are glad you still enjoyed your visit to the castle, despite the bad weather. More

Beautiful from a distance, unfortunately the fee to visit the castle was exorbitant, so we voted with our feet and didn't bother.

Nice looking castle in a great location. Plenty of rooms, grounds and battlements to explore, but quite expensive. Unless you plan to be there all day, our advice would be to not take advantage of the free tour. Although interesting in the main, it did go on a bit and the guide, whilst very knowledgeable, was more interested in telling... More

Got bus easy from our hotel. Beautiful little seaside town, beautiful long stretch of beach. Castle easy to climb up to, lots of secret stairways, you can get dressed up in medeival costumes. A few artists had exhibitions in there, beautiful one of the Queen, Very well kept, 2 telescopes at the top that you can use for free. On... More
