Description: History comes to life at Mont Orgueil Castle, which for over 600 years...
History comes to life at Mont Orgueil Castle, which for over 600 years protected Jersey against French invasion. Explore the network of staircases, towers and secret rooms to discover hidden treasures. Every time you visit you'll discover a staircase you've not seen before opening up into a room where you'll find something new. Discover Hidden artwork commissioned to tell the story of the castle; Climb the turrets to find the medieval ‘wheel', and descend into the cellar to experience the exhibit. Life-size wooden soldiers guard the castle from attack and 'the wounded man' statue shows the fate that could befall those fighting to save the castle from invasion.

This is one of Jersey's iconic sites and provides a very picturesque backdrop to the already picturesque Gorey harbour area. We haven't been for a few years but visited recently with some friends from UK. You can't help but be impressed by the bulk of the castle, it is stunning, and why anyone would even think about storming it in... More

This is a fantastic castle with stunning views of Gorey. It is extremely well presented and great for kids. There are quite a lot of steps but they are not steep. It is well worth a visit. The coffee shop serves a lovely cream tea. Look out for the small lizards that dart about! someone was getting married the day... More

The whole family felt this was an excellent castle to visit. Lots to see and we took over two hours to complete our visit. Well worth climbing right to the top to see the views. Pretty windy up top on the day we visited!

The castle overlooks the harbor of Gorey. Built in the 12th century to guard the Jersey coast from the French. Over the years the castle was used as a prison by the Crown. Today the castle is undergoing the restoration work founded by the Jersey Heritage Trust.

We visited Mont Orgueil castle on a short break to Jersey recently and got a wonderful surprise. The entry fee was very reasonably priced and other deals are available with multi attraction tickets. The castle was well maintained and the exhibits inside were informative and interesting. If you are in Jersey do not miss the chance of a visit here.... More

An interesting place to visit. We spent a couple of hours there. Lots of steps, and some of then quite steep. The rooms at the top of the castle are a bit of a maze. It's easy to miss stuff or loose people.

The day we visited was very windy and wet, which did impact a little as the castle is very high and not sheltered from the wind. Many, many steps up to it or you can use the slope that takes you round the side. We started with guided tour, it was very lengthy and eventually my young daughter got bored... More
