Even if you are not at all into drinking rum, a visit of the rhumerie is still worth it. Not only will you learn about the sugar cane and its importance to the island's history and economy, but you can also admire the beautiful setting of this place in the middle of nowhere. Just to walk around and look at... More

Loved the rum tasting but the tour was not that interesting for me. My parents enjoyed it though. Friends had said the restaurant is very good however we didn't visit.

One of the highlights in Mauritius. The tour itself was only an hour but the guide was really informative and enthusiastic. You get to see the process of sugar cane to rhum and how different rhums are distilled and aged. Towards the end of the tour, you get to taste 8 different types of rum (generous amount as well!). They... More

The tour is fairly short but interesting. However 1 mark dropped as its out of season so the machines or the production process isn't taking place now and this isn't made clear, also no reduction in price on the tour which is silly. The tasting is fun, if you enjoy rum you can get your money back here just through... More

I am not a rum drinker so I can not comment on the rum that was served here but we went as a party of six adults and a baby. We arrived and had lunch in the restaurant which was lovely....it was great. Then we did a tour of the Rhumerie...which is quick and does not take long but it... More

We recently visited the Rhumerie but were dissapointed to find that the machines were not running due to it being out of rum making season. However, we enjoyed our visit and found the rum tasting delicious.

The distillery is a "Copper wonder" with vats placed in easy to view areas. Tons of photo opportunities as it is nestled in a stunning valley. Be sure to bring along your rupees if you want to take a bottle of Mauritian rum or liqueur home.

Beautiful location & fabulous gardens. Food is good but not excellent. I've been on two occasions now & have found the front of house staff to be quite cold & rude and if the restaurant is busy, the service at the restaurant is atrocious (you certainly wouldn't want to be in a hurry). Interesting tour & lovely guides.

Recommended to everyone passing by Chamarel village. Nice view. Staffs very welcoming and guided tour. The best part is the different flavoured rhum for FREE. Worth a visit.
