We were on a mission to answer a question once posed by Captain Jack Sparrow...'why is the rum always gone?' And I think we found the answer here in Chamarel. The rhumerie is a pleasant place to visit, very modern and well designed, with the short but informative tour showing the different processes of making rum from sugar cane. The... More

The rhumerie is designed for visitors to see what's happening. The staff were extreme helpful and spoke a variety of languages. Its in a picturesque part of the mountains, but the tour is short and so is the tasting session. The restaurant is lovely, but we really only wanted a snack and it was quite formal. We had a good... Up in the hills we enjoyed this visit a lot. At the entrance one asks uou if you will go to the restaurant after the visit...say YES! The food is excellent and you do'nt pay for the visit then! For the restaurant we advise to reserve a table outside before starting the guided tour of this super ecologic refinery, and... More

We were on a tour that went past this place. We were meant to be going down the coast. After a mutiny by all of the passengers we detoured back to here. Beautiful grounds. There is art work everywhere. Even the tables are interesting. We had a good tour around the rhumerie that took about half an hour. Very informative about... More

The Rhumerie is not the longest tour you will do . However in our opinion quite good value for money and it's very interesting and fun you get to sample the amazing rum we felt quite tipsy ! The location is beautiful and the whole experience very well thought through. There is a lovely gift shop where you may purchase... More

The rhumerie is located in the hills of South West Mauritius and is great to visit as part of a tour of the island. The setting is beautiful and the rhumerie itself is only 6 years old so is in immaculate condition. There's a restaurant that looked lovely but I didn't eat there. The tour itself only takes about 25... More

The Rhumerie is situated in an idyllic site with beautiful views.. So its not just for Rum lovers, it can be enjoyed by all. On arrival you are assigned a guide who walks you through the site giving a very informative insight into the process of making rum and the sugar products. Our guide had a humorous side and kept... We decided to go to the rhumerie when we were out in the Chamarel area for the day, wasn't a long tour but for the money you pay it is worth it! The tour was quite interesting as I wasn't familiar with the process of making rum from sugar cane and the girl who was our guide was very good.... More

Another surprise of Mauritius. Rum factory gave us beautiful overview of the whole process of rum production out of sugar cane. We were able to observe picturesque copper-made distillation devices where the final product comes out. Of course we were not within any group only as individuals so it was no hurry especially during rum testing and purchasing time. Several... More

The rhumerie does an excellent tour that shows you how rum is made, with some tastings included. We had lunch there as well which was very reasonable and they don't advertise it but if you have lunch there you get your entrance fee back. We didn't buy any rum however
