I visited velankanni a couple days ago and visited the beach as it is quite close to the church. A pathway from the church entrance leads to the beach and there are lot of small shops on either side of this pathway. I was appalled by the state of this beach. You will see a lot of rubbish strewn all... More

The beach is 5 minute walk from the Churches. It is a normal Indian beach experience with hawkers selling eatables, firing guns at balloons, etc. The sea is generally rough so it is not advisable to swim in it. Not very clean place with the magnitude of people visiting Velankanni it is to be expected. The best part of the... More

Velankanni beach is famous as the Church of Our Lady of Health is located in the vicinity of the beach. Swimmers got to be cautious as I have noticed that the sea is generally rough. Beach is so crowded and not so tidy also. Generally, people who visit the church come to the beach for a short break.

The beach here is very near to the churches, walking distance for 5 mins. But there is nothing special here, crowded, just like any other beach. But when you visit all the churches, it's worth taking a rest in beach during evening.

LIKED - fresh fish fries at the beach are recommended for those with an appetite for street food. Children can anyways have fun on a beach.

Over crowded with lot of pushing and shoving. Stalls serving fresh-out-of-the-sea sea-food. A pure sensory overload and must-have.

Not a clean beach as one would expect as it near the church. Lots of mobile shops with fishy odour all around as the fish dishes are prepared right on the beach. I was here when it was raining, the rain created havoc with unpleasant experience. Swimming is dangerous here and there are no life guards or securities to prevent... More
