LIKED - fresh fish fries at the beach are recommended for those with an appetite for street food. Children can anyways have fun on a beach.

Over crowded with lot of pushing and shoving. Stalls serving fresh-out-of-the-sea sea-food. A pure sensory overload and must-have.

Not a clean beach as one would expect as it near the church. Lots of mobile shops with fishy odour all around as the fish dishes are prepared right on the beach. I was here when it was raining, the rain created havoc with unpleasant experience. Swimming is dangerous here and there are no life guards or securities to prevent... More

The beach in Vailankanni gets crowded in the evening with lots of vendors. Of course if one enjoys the local cuisine and chai, it is good to pass your time sitting on the beach. The sea is rough and swimming is out of the question. One can dip one's feet only and enjoy the cool evening breeze.

I have fond memories of this beach. I used to visit Velankanni every year with my parents and would love to be at the beach all day......I was sad to see its state on my most recent visit after a gap of many years. The sand itself is a lot darker than before. You will not find a clean stretch... More

Very badly maintained and encroached by stalls almost to the seashore. The entire stretch of the beach was dirty, with no place for us to sit.

Was disappointed with the beach. In fact, there was no beach. As the full beach is occupied by shops, eat joints etc. From the eat joints, sea is <200m away !!! . Huge rush is there always, so you wont get the feel of beach which you expect when you hear Beach!!! There are food joints with variety of fish,... More

The best time to visit the beach I guess is before all the commercial activities kick off. We found a couple of families on the beach playing in the sea. But the walk from the parking lot to the seashore was strewn with garbage, empty bottles. Didn't venture to get back in the evening.
