This beach is just opposite to Velankanni church. So many shops and eateries that sell all sea items. One would really tempted to buy something. The pathway to beach is narrow and over crowded, so is the beach. Otherwise all beaches are someway beautiful. Speciality is it is not affected by Tsunami.

The tsunami in 2004 killed hundreds of pilgrims on the beach, and presumably cleared a lot of the grass huts and temporary structures there. They are back, with all the squalid detritus that surrounds them, obscuring the beach itelf.

I visited this beach in the month of March 2015. The beach is very close to the church facing just the church. It is safe and a neat beach, The beach also have a number of shops from where you can taste the fresh catches of the sea. Fish Fry from the nearby shops along the beach side are recommended... More

Beach is the only place you can spend your evening. It is not advised to take bath in the beach. It is not a good safe beach.

A request to all the tourist and visitors - please do not eat any fishes that are sold on the beach restaurants - they look tempting - my family was taken in an ambulance all unconscious - after 6 hours of eating the fishes, they are stale and old once which the fishermen could not sell , the masala looks... Its the same every year and no improvements.dirt all over and church authorities are more concerned on commerce than cleanliness.i know its difficult to control the crowd yet can be a little organised and pick up dirt frequently so that it does not make the sands a garbage.

I visited velankanni a couple days ago and visited the beach as it is quite close to the church. A pathway from the church entrance leads to the beach and there are lot of small shops on either side of this pathway. I was appalled by the state of this beach. You will see a lot of rubbish strewn all... More

The beach is 5 minute walk from the Churches. It is a normal Indian beach experience with hawkers selling eatables, firing guns at balloons, etc. The sea is generally rough so it is not advisable to swim in it. Not very clean place with the magnitude of people visiting Velankanni it is to be expected. The best part of the... More
