This beach is located in the east end of the famous Church Vailankanni . The beach shore is surrounded by lots of shops and restaurants. There are enough warnings about the dangers and electric eels visiting the beach in the evening.

We did not step into the water as the beach was very dirty and so was the water. We did go to the beach but were not convinced to get in. Packed with too many shops.

The beach attracts pilgrims, and the beach is in a sorry state. The local governing body and the tamilnadu government could spruce the condition and make it eco friendly.

This is good tourist place in tamilnadu, This beach is just opposite to Velankanni church. So many shops and eateries that sell all sea items. One would really tempted to buy something. The pathway to beach is narrow and over crowded, so is the beach. Otherwise all beaches are someway beautiful. Speciality is it is not affected by Tsunami.

Better not to visit if you are planning to visit Basilica of Our Lady in velankanni as athe beach will be always crowded and really a worst beach to visit.

The tsunami in 2004 killed hundreds of pilgrims on the beach, and presumably cleared a lot of the grass huts and temporary structures there. They are back, with all the squalid detritus that surrounds them, obscuring the beach itelf.

I visited this beach in the month of March 2015. The beach is very close to the church facing just the church. It is safe and a neat beach, The beach also have a number of shops from where you can taste the fresh catches of the sea. Fish Fry from the nearby shops along the beach side are recommended... More
