Breathtaking view of the coastline, the beach town, submerged temples. Its very windy and a bit difficult to climb up numerous stiff stairs, but the experience above the light house is worth the effort.

WE had a ticket for the temples and it included the lighthouse - when we got there they started to insist that we paid again to climb to the top. We refused

I am not sure how many lighthouses they let you climb in India, but sure there aren’t too many; also, it is located on top of Mahabalipuram Hill, unlike most other lighthouses that are right on the beach.
