We expected The Sea Shore temple to be an olden day temple where regular pujas are carried out.But it turned out to be an old monument which was a temple in olden days. There is a broken Shiva linga in one of the chambers that marks it as a temple. A place of interest for history lovers.

I have been there hundreds of times since 1975 either taking my friends to show this place or to warm up my camera. Everytime I get excited seeing and photographing the monuments, she is truly very beautiful . The sad part is many who live in chennai haven't even gone there. I strongly recommend a half day tour to this... More

The place is in pretty good shape. The area around the temple is surrounded with lots of shops and beach stalls and is very dirty, but the temple premises itself is very clean. We got there early in the hopes of getting some photographs at sunrise. The site is supposed to open at 6AM, but the person selling he tickets... More

The Shore temple is highly visible from Mahabalipuram beach as it stands at the southern end overlooking the sea. It is accessed through many street traders, which is interesting, and through large open garden areas consisting mainly of grassed lawns. The temple itself stands looking across the sea and its location has lead it to be worn down by the... More

Yesterday I visited Shore Temple after 10 years, This makes it my second visit to here and I have witnessed changes in development of adjoining areas, gardens, shopping place, and number of visitors. It was like a time wrap for me. I arrived in the evening time as I had desired to spent time in the setting sun. Shore Temple... More

I have grown up visiting this monument at least once in two years. However, it is terrible to see how the rock carvings are slowly disintegrating. The temple surroundings have been beautifully improved with lawns and fences but the monument itself is sadly fading away.
