Thi is a world heritage monumnet built by pallavas. There were 8 temples and 7 of them have submerged into the sea. Archeology department has maintained it well It is open till 6 PM

You can see this from the beach and photograph from outside the fence. Carvings are worn. If you are buying the ticket 250 rupees to see the 5 paratha the shore temple is included so might as well see it .But if you want to see a temple there are many others to choose fom

Although the Temple was ravaged by the Tsunami much restoration work has been done and still a great place to visit.

I have grown up visiting this monument at least once in two years. However, it is terrible to see how the rock carvings are slowly disintegrating. The temple surroundings have been beautifully improved with lawns and fences but the monument itself is sadly fading away.
