Tour to Mahabalipuram will be a historical one which speaks of Indian sculpture during the Pallav dynasty. The shore temple, caves, five rathas , and all others tell us about the once forgotten history. The city is not very big or clean but the sea is just beautiful. The highlight is the shore temple on the beach.

The Sea Shore temple is very nice and so the Five Rathas . One can find excellent work of sculpture on sandstone under the patronage of Pallav dynasty. The nearly sea beach is also good. But the place is really hot in the month of October. It is just 55 km away from Chennai.

We visited the Mahabalipuram complex in October 2014. There are three main spots to be covered here: the shore temple by the sea, the five 'rathas' (chariots) and the group of "other monuments". Though the shore temple and the ratha complexes are at a slight distance away from the 'other group of monuments', I'd suggest that you cover these first... More

Monolithic architectural and sculptural marvel constructed by the great Pallava Kings of Tamil Nadu particularly Kaanchipuram. One get amazed to see the huge sculptures and cave temples. It is easier to carve and chisle in marbles but very difficult to get huge structures in granite. You can very well see the niceties sculptural art far superior to Michel Angelo and... More

I am brough up in chennai, but never been to mahabalipuram so far. This time we visited the place, but much to my dissatisfaction the places are not maintained as it is supposed to be. Hardly any parking place, no shelter in the scortching hot, garbage outside the bin and hawkers. While entering the mahabalipuram location, they collected INR 20... More

The Archaeological survey of India preserved this place as a national Monument under Act. Very nice to see the Pallava Kingdom Art. Well maintained. It is suitable to see the monuments at the evening.
