An essential stop--don't be dissuaded by the massively inflated ticket prices for non-Indians. Also, make sure that you keep your ticket for the Shore Temple as it will get you into the Five Rathas as well.

Not to miss this place .The ancient stories related to this place made me reach there. Its worth the travel and money. The rock carvings and the caves are so minute and unique that i spent really long time in analysing each and everything. A best place for history lovers.

At the time we were staying in Vellore, so we opted for a day trip to Mahabalipuram. It is about 150 km from Vellore or Chennai. The town is small and picturesque, but absolutely geared for tourists and visitors. It is worthwhile to explore the town on foot, because this allows you to see all the attractions, experience the gusto... More

The monuments at Mahabalipuram are definitely worth a visit if you have time for an hours drive out of Chennai. The rock sculpture of everyday life dating back to thousands of years is good to see. The site itself will take atleast an hour of leisurely walk to absorb all the little details. Guides and stone carving sellers will flank... More

Nice place for an afternoon visit. Not very large area, it will take atmost 1hour to walk around here. I liked the view of the setting sun from here. There is a big rock which is amazingly standing there with a negligible contact with the ground. The sculptures made on the wall are beautiful. You will get private buses or... More

The monuments are awesome. I was shocked to see those cuts and curves on the rocks. Those are almost 1300 years old but still so beautiful. Atmosphere was really mind blowing. Must Visit - Shore Temple Tiger Cave Krishna's Butterball
