September first weekend we had been there in karnala. It is located 10km far from Panvel towards Alibaug. State transport and share autos are available from Panvel. Entrance fee is Rs. 25/person. During monsoon, trekking is bit risky there. Level of trekking is easy. It is a good place for beginners. September and October are the best time to explore... More

Barely 70 Kms from South Mumbai, Karnala Fort is located within the Karnala Bird Santuary off the Mumbai- Goa Highway. The Santuary itself attracts a lot of migratory birds which are sure delight the avid as well as the amateur bird watcher. The ideal time to see them is between Oct to Feb. We went there a tad early and... More

Karnala Bird Sanctuary, less well known for its birds, is one of the closest trek spots to Mumbai. It's a great place for first-timers to get a hang of trekking. The trails are well marked and maintained, and the grade is easy to medium throughout (except close to the fort entrance--yup, there's a fort up the hill). Monsoons really bring... More

This fort lies in the vicinity of karnala bird sanctuary. Best time to visit the fort is during winter and monsoon else you get dehydrated in summer unless you carry sufficient water. Many trekkers visit this place on weekends also seen many families do outing here who have a very pleasant time. There are many informative hoardings at the entrance... More

Durshet Forest Lodge is also known as Nature Trails resort. Take a train to Khopoli from dadar station on the central line. Since Khopoli trains are few you can take Karjat train and from Karjat you can take Khopoli train. Check timings in mindicator on your mobile. Get down at Khopoli and take a ricksaw to reach the place. It... More

Karnala Bird Sanctuary. Do not go by the name. You will not find much birds here. Yes some birds will definitely catch your attraction. This is also one of the best place for basic treckers and they can enjoy trekking here. Lets start our journey. From Mumbai go to Harbour Railway Station and catch a local train to Panvel. Get...
