The street is lovely but is full of tourist shops. Houses in the area are interesting. There is a fee to enter the area, which is worthwhile if you have time to spend there.

We stayed with a local family where we rented a room for three days (70kuai per night for 2 adults). It feels like living in an open-air museum. The Old Town is how you imagine old China has been. Amazingly beautiful - especially the curve-shaped Lishui Street along the small canal. The locals are really friendly and everything still feels... More
