Besides the usual must-sees when visiting Australia (Uluru, Sydney Opera House, etc), we definitely wanted to do the Skyrail Rainforest Cableway and Kuranda Scenic Railway. We live on the Canadian prairie so a tropical rainforest is fairyland stuff for us. We went up on the Skyrail first thing in the morning. It was drizzling a bit but that just added... More

At no fault of the operator, I found this skyrail ride really boring. We took the downwards ride from Kuranda down to the Smithfield stop below. I come from a place where the weather is tropical and has rainforests. Hence the things I saw at the two stops are nothing really new to me. The scenery from the skyrail cabin... More

The Skyrail is probably on a par with other top scenic attractions around the world. It is very well run, the staff are great, and the equipment is modern and clean. And the views? Wow. It is like flying a few feet above the rainforest canopy - trees and hills and yet more trees in every direction, as far as... More

In my honest opinion Skyrail Rainforest Cableway really competes with the Great Barrier Reef as the best tourist activity/attraction in the whole Cairns area. Views are magnificent and it's totally worth going. If you want to save money, you should definitely skip the train to Kuranda and just use this :)

Well worth a visit. From Kuranda down and back or from Cairns return....amazing views above the equatorial rain forest canopy. Extending as far as the eye could see ......up to Red Peak gave an spectacular panoramic view of the sea around Cairns and the breeze blowing through the cab as we neared the top was refreshing. Barron Falls was disappointing... More

We were pressed for time so decided to take the skyrail both ways. It was the best option for us. I had thought the diamond upgrade would be a good idea but I was impressed by the honesty of the staff member who advised against it for our situation (we had to be back in time to get back on... The whole experience with the cable car is unique. I like this part the best in the 3 part series of skyrail, 3 hour tour of kuranda wildlife, duck boat tour and aboriginal tour, back by train. The view from this cable car was stunning as it gives you an aerial view where you can spot some birds if lucky.... More

When visiting Cairns this is certainly an attraction not to be missed. We went up to Kuranda by rail and came back with the Sky Rail. We came up by rail, which was ok, but was easily eclipsed by the journey down on Skyrail! What spectacular views! What an amazing view. This is a must do. One staff member played a joke on my son when we were changing gondoliers, hilarious. Peaceful way to view this spectacular rainforest. We got the train up and were disappointed so definitely Skyrail both ways.
