The scenery that can be viewed from the cable cars is astounding, beautiful beyond words. The 2 stops on the way are well worth it too. The reason i did not give a 5 was due to being put with strangers on the last leg down to Smithfield - negating the possibility of buying the photo at the end of... More

If I could recommend only one thing to do in Cairns, this would be it (unless you need to check the 'diving the Great Barrier Reef' box in your bucket list, of course). The 7.5km cableway literally packs a remarkable adventure into a small capsule. There is an option to go one way with a train and the other with... More

As we had been told that a visit to Cairns was not complete without a trip on the Skyrail we went ahead and booked. The scenery was outstanding during the ascension and also when descending. I would recommend travelling on the Skyrail both ways. It was a little scary to start with but still felt very safe so many metres... More

After a long day out in the heat, exploring Kuranda village and traveling up the mountain via the Kuranda Scenic Railway and down via Skyrail I experienced serious heatstroke. Yes, I thought I drank enough water, had a hat on and kept well in the shade. However, it happened, and surely I can’t be the first tourist to have heatstroke... More

This cable car trip is an incredible experience - 7.5 kilometres travelling across the rainforest with stunning views. You will never experience anything like it. There are station stops along the way if you want to get off and view the waterfall at Barren's river or walk through the rainforest with a ranger. But even if you just stay on,... More

Out of the world experience of the rainforest. Spectacular views from the top. No better way to have a glimpse of the canopies and experience life under them. Beautiful and green. A must-do when in Cairns.

The Skyrail is a nice cable car ride cruising over the treetops of the rainforest. The Barron Falls stop has a great view. Red Peak station is a walk in the rainforest. Skip the Diamond Class. Not worth it. You can just look down while in the car. The town of Kuranda is very touristy but ok to wander around.... More

It's not cheap to take this option but it was worth it to see the area from this vantage point. It was a long ride but didn't get boring at all. Short of hiring an aircraft ride this is the best way to get a birds-eye view.

This seemed expensive at first, $75 per person, but the cable car is about 8 kms long and had great views. The two info stops were short visits but personally the little town of Kuranda is not really worth the visit unless you like souvenir shops and flea markets! Not too many good shops but a lot of jewellery stores... More
