Recommended by the resort we stayed at, the Skyrail was a great way to spend a half day (could easily have been made into a full day out). Fantastic views on the 7.5 km cablecar trip from Smithfield to Kuranda. Equipment looked to be well maintained and was built to have minimal impact on the environment. The short walks at... More

We got the train up to Kuranda and the Skyrail back down. My recommendation would be not to drive yourself, the road is winding and you wouldn't see much except looking at the road. Barron Falls was more a splash than a gush but we did see what it would look like in the wet season, a lot more impressive.... More

We recently did a day trip to kuranda on the rainforest sky rail and return on the scenic railway. A fantastic day out. The journey on the sky rail allowed us to stop at two stations and enjoy beautiful rain forest walks and enjoy a scenic view of Barron falls. From the sky rail we also got magnificent views back... This is a must do. Wow, the scenery is breathtaking and the lookouts along the way add great photo opportunities of the waterfalls and the Barron River Hydro plant. We paid an extra $10 for a glass bottomed cable car and glad we did. It gives a really good perspective of the density and height of the canopies. We self... More

We took the train up to Kuranda and returned via the Skyrail. The views were absolutely breath taking, and we got off at each station to enjoy the board walks and the scenery. The cabins were very comfortable, and the staff quite friendly. There was a shuttle available which took us back to our car.

The skyrail, wow. That was just an incredible experience, I was in awe the entire time. I'm also VERY afraid of heights by the way, and I had some stressful little moments, haha. But it was so beautiful it distracted me from my fear. Mountains and treetops! Every now and then you could see through the trees to a stream... More

The best cable at I've been on and been on many. Stunning views and our children 7&8 loved it. Definitely a travel highlight. My favourite attraction in the region. I thought Kuranda was awful, so maybe escaping on the Skyrail made it even more stunning

This attraction is a must see if you are visiting Cairns or Port Douglas, gives you an awesome perspective of the coast line and is a really good day out with Kuranda at the top and we caught the Train back down again giving you some history of the area, brilliant.

A beautiful way to travel from Kuranda to Cairns, or the other way around. Very interesting boardwalks at the Red-Peak and Barron Falls stations. A most interesting perspective of the unique rainforest

We were recommended to go on the Skyrail by a few locals. We chose to take the Skyrail and Kuranda Scenic Railway package with the Diamond view on the Skyrail. It was a great day in the rainforest. The Skyrail Diamond View was an interesting change and gave us a bird's eye perspective looking straight down. We also spent time... More
