Have lived here for many years and wasn't aware how beautiful these wetlands are. First visit and was very impressed. Excellent walking tracks and beautiful boardwalk ( much nicer than Cairns Botanical boardwalk). Two very nice BBQ areas overlooking one of the lakes. Good toilet facilities. Lots of birdlife and interesting signs telling about wildlife that can be found here... More

I'm unsure what the problem was on the day we were there but there wasn't a single water bird in any of the dams and lakes. We saw some Rainbow Bee-eaters and other land based birds, although only about half a dozen species, but not a single water bird. Very strange. It is flat, well laid out with good signage... More

A fantastic place for bird watchers. We spent hours but wished we'd taken insect repellent as we were covered in mossies.

Lovely place to take a quiet walk and see nature at its best. Take your camera, a hat and some water.

Visited here on 5 November 2014. As a keen Birdwatcher I was looking forward to visiting this, relatively new and still evolving wetland reserve. I was not disappointed. Large car park with clean toilet facilities and a good 'Interpretive Board' for the reserve. Before getting out of the car I'd seen a pair of Pheasant Coucal and also heard a... More

Almost silent, can just hear highway murmurings; so worth a visit to escape our noise filled world. No shaded parking and little shade in most of the park. Trees are immature and scrubby. Saw only magpie geese water fowl and butcherbird No dogs allowed so no nasty surprises underfoot or on wheels. Bring your bike for helmet free riding. Breakfast... More

Cattana Wetlands covers about 30 hectares of land, very well laid out and well cared for. We went about 9.30am on a Tuesday morning and there were only a few other people there. The weather was perfect for a nice stroll around taking in the sights of the birds, the varied vegetation and the lovely lakes. Plenty of seats if... More

Thank goodness for the vision of a previous council, this degraded sugarcane land was purchased, rehabilitated and resourced to become the wonderful little "hidden" wetland that it is today! We live in Yorkey's Knob and Cattanna Wetland is high on our list of attractions whenever we want to impress visitors with our numerous assets or whenever we simply wish to... More
