The fort is located in the center of the vellore town. The best time to visit is early morning or in the evening as the day time would be very hot. There isn't much to see in the fort other than the fortified wall and the Temple inside. The museum can be visited if you have some extra time.

A mosque, a catholic church and a Shiva Temple share this beautiful space. Its beautiful to walk around and very, very quiet a rare thing anywhere in India. There are many parks with children playing cricket. You can climb right up on the battlements. Theres lots of green grass to lie on and savour the peace.

Compared to my last visit 15+ years ago, the maintenance of this fort has improved. They have placed lights and dummy soldiers at the right places.

We were even told... More
