If you are in Kunming, I would HIGHLY recommend visiting Xingyi just to see Wanfenglin. The scenery is breathtaking, and you will be away from the hordes of tourists that you may have seen in Dali or Lijiang. You can reach here by public transportation from Xingyi city center. There are a lot of accommodations within the scenic area.

Although we really wanted to go into the mountains it was not possible, due to bad weather with heavy rain, many roads were flooded or simply disappeared. We have been able to see the mountains from a distance and took some nice pictures with the clouds hanging around the tops. Instead of the 5 hours we calculated to get there... More

Guizhou Province, China boasts beautiful, scenic Karst peak forests and subterranean molded terraced rice fields just 40 minutes from Xingyi. Wanfenglin, Forest of Ten Thousand Peaks in Xingyi, is one of China’s most beautiful peak forests amidst craggy/magnificent Karst landscape.
