An enjoyable night - worth the trip

Met some interesting people, had good food and excellent company. Well worth a visit on one of the gourmet nights.

we booked a table for 6 several months ago for lunch. Told to get there for 11.30, tractor arrived to collect us at 11.45, not offered a coffee, but a shot of liqueur. One of the reasons for going was to see the gardens which were no better than an average allotment. No one to show us around, no information... More

We spent the day at River Cottage for their summer fayre yesterday and had the best time. The tractor ride down was a bit too exciting, think roller coaster, it was rather bumpy and we all screamed in unison at one rather large bump. Brought the whole trailer of strangers to laughter though. One lady even apologised for grabbing my... More

Simply superb. From the fabulous bread-making course which made slightly complex stuff easy, to the actual building of the oven (again, easy when you know how!) to the delicious pizzas we made for our lunch - it was all far, far better than I expected. Steve Lamb the oven-building coach was hilarious and really clear, and the baker (er, Alex?... More

Firstly, it cost £50 for four of us to just go in the first place, we then arrived in a sparsely laid-out field to go and spend yet more on a disappointing day. We went in the expectation that this would be a proper food festival - after all it is the 'famous' river cottage, it was just so disappointing... More

Great family day. They run a summer fair in August and Spring fair in May. Beautiful grounds and views, enter by tractor. Friendly staff and great food, lots of activities. The farm land is mostly even enough for a stroller.

I came for a one day cookery course. I was impressed how much we managed to fit into one day. I came away with extra food I had not managed to eat, a loaf, part of my dessert and half a fish I had previously filleted. The crowd in the kitchen (20 participants) were all very friendly and our 'boss',... More

I was given this experience as a birthday gift, how happy am I now! From the minute I arrived we were all treated like royalty and nothing was too much for the Emma's!. We were given expert, amusing and useful instruction by Steve Lamb who made the whole day an experience I will never forget. The rest of his team... More

Location beautiful, ride down to the valley by tractor and trailer a novelty. Kitchen garden wonderful, such a variety of food. Evening let down by food that I can only describe as average. Ox heart and brawn not what is was expecting and quite tasteless. The main course was chicken which was exceedingly moist, served with not quite done potatoes,... More
