A day of Game cookery with the great Chefs at a River a Cottage. Friendly, informal, every minute contains another jewel and tips of the trade. A full day of prep, butchery, prep , eat..drink...prep cook..listen learn...practice..cook...did I say eat? And still plenty left over to take home. I will be back for more!

Just experience the full dining experience with my wife at River Cottage. Unique experience from the tractor ride to the yurt, sampling local produce and dining with complete strangers who become great friends for the evening. Lovely food, freshly prepared and dishes you wouldn't get anywhere else. Brilliant atmosphere, great food and happy memories created. I would fully recommend this... More

We have been going to the River Cottage open days for a few years, and each time there is more to see and do. Great for kids, including the tractor/trailer ride down to the site from the car park. Well. I think its exciting ! Tickets have to be pre-booked. There is no 'turn up and pay on the day'... More

Being in "lurvvvvvv" with Cheese, attending a Cheese Making course sounded like a good idea - and it was. Led by Tom Calver from Westcombe Dairy the one-day course included making both hard and soft cheeses so pumped quite a lot of learning into the six hours. Will have to wait a while, plus carry out some aftercare, before I... More

I have tried to book a voucher for relatives who visit the Restaurant in Axminster, as a Christmas Present, we live in France and the cost for sending a voucher was over 13 pounds! I called to ascertain the reason to be told it sounded reasonable. The young lady then went to find out and I was told someone may... More

We loved the cookery course over the weekend from baking to butchering and it was the best fun with everyone having a great time the staff were superb especially Andy the Chef who was a really genuine good bloke. We learnt loads and without any pressure or boring bits with the major benefit of having a few pints along the... More

Attending a cookery class at River Cottage has been a must do on my agenda for some time now. And I was not disapointed at all. The staff were very welcoming and the whole day was extremely well run. We did some foraging for wild food, got to skin a rabbit, pluck a partridge and cook some awesome dishes! I... More

This was a present from our son. We had a thoroughly enjoyable day. It exceeded all expectations. The staff were lovely, the food was amazing, location was stunning. It's well worth a visit. We shall be going again and taking the rest of our family.

Amusing, exhausting, educational and worth every penny. I learned so much, cooked & ate til I could no more. Bring comfy shoes, sense of humour and lots of questions

We went for the alfresco lunch and it was lovely. The food was very tasty and it was great to look around the property.
