The holy city at the heart of Guruvayur is the most frequented temple in India and the humble abode of Lord Shree Krishna. Its a true legacy for a temple that could withstand the test of time and celebrated the golden years for devotees and pilgrims over centuries of its standing.

Guruvayur Temple in Guruvayur dedicated to Lord Krishna (an incarnation of Vishnu) is one of the most sacred places for Vaishnavites, even though it is not included in the 108 Divya Desams (holy places dedicated to Lord Vishnu). The temple is commonly known as Bhuloka Vaikuntham (home of Lord Vishnu on Earth).

If you are planning to visit Guruvayur, plan your timings well - to align to the temple's timings. Factors to consider: 1. To stay at Thrissur (about 30 KMs away) or at Guruvayur. If you are dependent on public transport and dont mind a less comfortable stay for a night, I'd advise Guruvayur. In Kerala, restaurants/bus services shut down by... More

We reached here at about 7 pm. We were told that temple close at 9 pm and now no queue. Gents to wear dhoty can be hired at nominal cost. Ladies no strict restriction purse allowed. A very fantastic temple who believe in. Very gracefully darshan completed without long queue.

Like most other Keralite Hindu families, we too frequent Guruvayur Kshetram every year or so. It is a delightful experience no doubt, and the structure is in itself magnificent. Maybe not the calm and pious worship atmosphere you would have in mind when you think of a temple, but it sure is alluring in its own way. However, I cannot... More

Spirituality is evoked and arouse only when you visit temples like this. A very old temple well maintained.A early morning visit to the temple is most auspicious. The story about the temple goes like this. The Krishna temple in the town of Guruvayoor in Kerala is one of the five famous Krishna/Vishnu temples in India. The others are the Jagannath Temple... More

Very segregated waiting lines. Pooja times will dictate the delay. Evenings might have loads of pooja's. Best to avoid Sabarimala season if possible. Sabarimala devotees has separate waiting line.
