Guruvayoor Temple dedicated to Lord Krishna. The place is situated in Kerala. Though the devotees worship him as Lord Krishna, the deity is that of a complete man incarnation of Lord Maha Vishnu with four arms. This shrine is popularly known as the Dwaraka of south and is in the form of a rectangle.

Guruvayoor temple is a well known pilgrimage in south india. the temple itself is well organised and runs on schedule. The cleanliness and crowd handling is top notch. Yes, its very crowded, but its worth the wait. FYI, Non-hindus are not allowed

Guruvayurappan, the presiding deity is the cute, baby Krishna, in standing posture. It is such a lovely experience to go and see Him there. The milk Payasam of this temple is super tasty and the arati time elephant march, called the Seeveli, is a must-watch.

The place is crowded most of the time. It is better to visit on a weekday evening, preferably on Tuesday /Wednesday as the crowd will be somewhat less. The temple closes at 2115h. Some offerings need to be booked in advance , so be sure you do not end up disappointed. No cellphones ar cameras to be taken inside. If... More
