This Fort was built by the Yaruba dynasty Imam Bil'arab bin Sultan, who ruled from 1679 to 1692. The Last Inman,You can view his actual tomb and grave inside the castle. The Fort is a huge structure over 3 storeys with lots of interesting rooms, Our guide was fantastic in pointing out the history and prominence of the fort and... More

Of all the forts that we visited in Oman, this was the busiest and most well-preserved. The rooms were decked out in carpets and furniture to give a feel for life in the fort. We were able to access all the different parts of the fort from the crypt to the roof. There were a few different tour groups going... More

At last after visiting Oman since 1994, we got to visit Jabrin Fort! Absolutely loved it and my 2 girls too, aged 7 and 10. Yes it's all very beautiful now, but at least you can get a better sense of how it used to look. It has been sensitively restored with stunning courtyards with high balconies and some of... More

After visiting Nizwa Fort we visited Jabrin Fort which was just as interesting. Beautifully restored (although we prefer a little bit of an ancient/decaying look) with nice decorations in some of the rooms to give you an impression of how people lived when the fort was still functional. Without a guide the fort is a bit of a maze which... More

Jabrin is very well preserved and well worth an hour or two exploring for families and anyone interested in the history of the area. Some steep staircases for those who are immobile - and also labyrinthine. But well worth the visit.

I was on Jebel Shams when two people told me about going to Jabrin Fort. I had not heard of it, nor did anyone tell me about it before. So I joined them both and boy was it worth it! It was in good condition, and very interesting. They also provided you with a leaflet so you understand the history... More

Sitting majestically in the middle of a large plain, this fort has been lovingly restored. It has a few interesting exhibits. Some of the rooms are decorated in period style. The views from the top of the fort across the date palms and desert to the mountains is beautiful.

Depends on your interests really. Its smaller than I expected and its in the middle of a flat plain (although ringed by rocky hills at a distance) so the views aren't quite what I was expecting either. That said, as an attraction it is much better done than nearby Bahla Fort as it has been decorated with goods and furniture... More

Not sure whether to call it a fort or a castle. You really get some idea of what life was like for a very important imam in the 17th century. There are enough pots and dishes, books and carpets to indicate what various rooms were used for, and a mosque and school on the top level. There are also garrison... More
