We made a day trip to The Dieng Plateau from Wonosobo. initially we were planning on spending the night in Dieng and get an early morning rise, but upon our arrival in the village (on a saturday) it turned out the be a long weekend for the Indonesians due to a public holiday on friday. The town was insanely busy... More

Took us 3 hours from Yogyakarta city. Traffic was bad and it was raining. Cool weather but sometimes too cold and wet. We had high expectations after looking at photos of the area. Nice scenery of the hills and farms. However, Arjuna temple, Sikidang crater and Telaga Warna were a let down. Separate entrance fees for the site. IDR25,000 for... More

I love coming down to here. The view, the scenary, the landscape, the candi candi n everything surrounds it, they were gorgeous. The weather was also really nice and chill. The visitors also could take pictures with some men who were wearing some kind of wayang outfits, which was really fun experience. It a must visit to anyone thats going... More

After a 4 hour drive from Jogjakarta , we finally made it to the dieng plateau. The scenery on the way was amazing with intensive agriculture on very steep land. It was cool enough to wear our sweatshirts. The geothermal activity and the lake are interesting. If you want to see the ancient Hindu relics , they have pt them... More

2h drive from Borobudur, but we got lost and the hilly and sometimes broken road made quite an effort to get there. First visited the "colourful" lake (Telaga Warna) and it was utterly underwhelming. Then a guide brought us to the hill near Dieng Plateau Theater and the view from there was absolutely stunning - worth the trip to Dieng.... More

It's nice to take some pictures but better to come early in the morning, than it's not so cloudy! Otherwise you can't see anything!

It's always sunny in the morning and always rainy in the afternoon. That's just the way it is. If you are planning a one day trip from yogyakarta you might aswell give it up unless you want to run between the attractions in endless rain. There are a bunch of beautiful but small temples, cool active crater, marvelous coloured lake... More
