A bumpy ride in amongst Sugar cane on the way there but the falls were beautiful! The falls were created by lava that has crystalized and therefore they have column like forms.

We drove ourselves here, be aware that the road to it is not actually a road and more of a uphill dirt track, it's a bit scary. We loved the waterfall. As soon as we got there a local man came down from the top, telling us to get into the water. We were going to do this anyway. He... More

Set back a bit from the main flow of traffic - you would need your own transport and then a short 1KM walk. The falls though not very high, but broad and wide, had plenty of water flow. The coconut seller does some stunts taking a dive from the top of the falls - I thought he was committing suicide!

We almost wanted to believe the comment written above about seeing only a small waterfall...but luckily we didnt. It was just perfect! Fresh clean water to swim in and cool down.. rocks to climb on and jump down... when we arrived there was a guy who was kind of a guide.. he showed us plants, animals and took picture after... More

You can go here while passing to the Ile Aux Cerf. It's excellent place. Anyone can go there by boat or speed boat. Awesome falls.

Visited these falls while doing a Blue Bay tour. On the way to the falls we saw Macaque monkeys, fruit bats and other wildlife which made the trip up river just that much more enjoyable. Having waterfall therapy is always good, and I enjoy any kind of water fall and the music they play off the rocks. the only down... More

Drove ourselves here as it seems to be in a lot of the guide books and we were down in the south of the island that day. The drive to it is very off road so if it has been raining I would give it a miss, even when it has not been raining the road is very rough and... More

We'd been told that Rochester Falls was a "must see" while in Mauritius so at the end of a day when we were in the south we headed to it. You have to head in the general direction of it and then you will start to see handwritten signs for it. Then you will leave the road and start heading... More

To get to these falls requires a long drive along a narrow bumpy road through cane fields, but the view when you get there is worth it. Try to avoid locals who offer to guide you and dive from the top for a tip. The path down is rough and good strong shoes are recommended
