The tour itself is free, and it gave me a feeling like i was in the middle of forrest as they have a bird sanctuary as well. it's impressive how they show you and giving you details of the distillery itself. it's a must place to visit when you are in Japan, even you are not a whisky drinker. Three tour options available; whiskey tour, natural water tour or a combo of both. I did the whiskey tour which was excellent. For those non Japanese speakers, English leaflets and an audio guide are provided free of charge. The tour itself is also free and includes a little sampling at the end. A note on the sampling; they had already... More

Visited here whilst staying at the Yatsugatake Royal Hotel during November 2012. I like whiskey. I like Japanese whiskey. Mother-in-law picked a real treat for me during my stay (I also love astronomy and the hotel has its own observatory! Excellent!). The distillery and museum were fascinating. I absolutely loved standing in the warehouse, breathing in deep the wonderful, WONDERFUL... More

First of all, the natural wooded setting floors you. The highlights are the water and whisky tours, the whisky tours ending with a tasting session. On arrival, you can get the FREE tickets for the tours right at the parking area. You can also call and make a reservation the day before your visit. The whisky tour does tend to... More

Hakusyu whisky is one of the best whisky I recommend since there are no whisky that taste like them. (Well balanced creamy but elegant smokiness and older one with nice fruitiness such as ripe grapefruits) Therefore it is worth visiting but since the location is in a remote place, it may be hard for foreigners to visit. (Taking the right... More

Although I am not that interested in whiskey, I enjoyed their factory tour and little museum. (The museum has explanations in Japanese only. For factory tour, non-Japanese speaker can use audio guide). At the end of the factory tour, you can taste some of their whiskies. This 60min tour is free of charge (including tasting). They also have their mineral... More
