During the last springtime 2014, the sakura period had arrived just a bit earlier than usual and for this reason very few cherry blossoms were visible in the week-end 11-14 April 2014, both in Tokyo and in Kyoto. For the late-comers like me, the best solution was to go to Mt Yoshino, south of Kyoto (and South-east of Osaka). The... More

Even though I went a little past the cherry blossom peak season, the views I saw while ascending up Mount Yoshino were still magnificent and fantastic. Visited a few temples, namely the Kinpusenji Temple and Yoshimizu Temple, which offers commanding views of the cherry blossoms. If time permits, you could also drop by 湯元宝の家, located just after the entrance of... More

This must simply be the best kept secret amongst local Japanese tourists (you don't get the hordes of foreigners thronging Kiyomizudera Temple for example). It's quite far to drive or bus in from Kyoto/Osaka/Nara as a daytrip. And tricky to negotiate via the local Kintetsu Rail. So we chose to stay at the Kashihara Royal Hotel, just 5 mins' walk... I wish this place would remain a secret. It's too beautiful! When we visited during the cherry blossoms season, there were mostly locals who came to visit the shrines. Love that this place is not too touristy but more authentic. Mount Yoshino is definitely one of the most beautiful places I've been to in my life! Walking up the hilly... More

We drove all the way from Osaka, took us 2 hours to reach Mt Yoshino. We were accompanied by our tour guide , who took us around up to the best place to see the cherry blossoms. Mt Yoshino is a world heritage. Most of the tourists are locals, mostly seniors. It was fantastic to watch and observed the beauty... More

Because it's our first time coming here (during the cherry blossom season), after taking the bus (that ONLY runs during this season) to the middle of the mountain, you will be confused of where to go next. We just followed everyone to climb the steep staircase up to the street of Mt. Yoshino and then walking down (also same direction... More

Just beautiful! Clusters of puffy pink cherry blossoms dotting the mountains. It's a nice walk up the hill for those who are fit and up to it. We saw many elderly locals doing the climb as well. Along the way, one would be kept occupied with beautiful sakuras, lovely green scenery and shops hawking a variety of wares. Loads of... More

Sure you have seen cherry blossom everywhere but have you seen it looking like clusters of pink sweet cotton candy "flowing" from the mountain? It's just so amazing to be here but you need to get here early. I only left Osaka at 10ish and to be honest, traveling time back and forth took like 6 hours (inclusive of getting... More

We came to Yoshino Yama April 9th, when the cherry blossom already started to disappear in the cities. Yoshino is easy to get to by train, just make sure your on the right line coming from Osaka (kintetsu minami Osaka line) an its the last stop on the train to Yoshino, takes about 1:30-2 hours. Bring food from the city... More

Yoshino Mountain is one of a world heritage site. In Japanese, they says “ 1000 cherry trees at one glance” in here, while the expression is not too much but rather true. Whole of mountain is in cherry color in April. It is so beautiful! You will enjoy many of beautiful cherry blossoms and nature walk, some traditional Japanese temples... More
