I mistakenly said we had only stayed two nights in Kanezawa. Should have been three because on the second day we took a day trip (using rail pass ) to Eiheiji (temple).
Caught the 9.48am Shirasagi (white Heron) train to Eiheiji Town arriving there 10.48am.
From station caught local bus which cost 720 yen per person each way. The bus...

This is one of the most important zen temples in the world. It is famous among Budhists and even Steve Jobs wanted to come here to study zen.
Plenty of English around if you don`t speak Japanese. A truely humbling experience. A must see.
NOTE: make sure to ask before taking pictures of things/people.
