Mikurigaike is located at 2405m high in Murodou/Tateyama of Toyama prefecture. It is remote place but easily accessible by public transportation. The pond is just 15 minutes walk from bus terminal and the walking pass is well maintained. The contrast of colors such as blue, green, white was so beautiful that I couldn't stop taking many pictures.

A beautiful pond but it wasn't so still for perfect reflections while we were there, would love to have spent more time there especially at a more photogenic hour.

Dont expect to see the pond in April, as i found out it is still very frozen and covered by snow. Still made for a nice walk

We went on the Alpine Route in June. The Mikurigaike Pond was frozen, the surrounding view was breathtaking. We had a good short walk along the snowy trail round the pond and saw thunder birds perched on snow or rocks for us to take photo:). It was one of our best experiences.

With perfect blue skies, luscious green mountains in the background and a touch of snow here and there on the ground ... the area is so picturesque. There's plenty of great spots to rest and soak up the beauty. Spotting all the tiny little wildflowers along the way was fascinating, too ...
