Located quite far away from other attraction, it is highly recommended to rent a car if you want to go to the park. The blooming season is from May to early June. The nearest town is Kamikawa or Monbetsu. Asahikawa is about an hour and a half drive as well. I tis not as touristy as lavender field on July... More

It's the best part of our trip this time - we are able to see the Shiba-zakura flowers all around - it's like a pink color carpet! So amazing!! The highlight is to take a helicopter ride (only 5000 yen per adult) - it's almost 6 min ride, that you can have a wonderful view of whole area - pink... More

The Shibazakura festival comes each year around may. The advertisements that filled the 5-lake area (and also Tokyo and the airport) show a much "pinker" picture (pun intended). Still - it is very pretty and worth the stroll to see the blossom and walk around the small festival tents on-site.

There's no where else in the world that is covered in bright pink, other than this park. It is an interesting sight to behold and be sure to try the shibasakura ice cream sold on site. There were many visitors, it was hard to get a photo taken without any distractions in sight. The sun was bearing down unforgivingly on... More

The park is covered with pink blooms every season. It is really interesting and pretty. However, it was a strangely hot day when we were there, so we did not stay long out there.

We went there on June 4th 2013 and the hill was still visibly pink from really far away. We enjoyed the pink moss phlox for about an hour, walking up and down the hill, taking photos and enjoying the countryside-quaint Japanese Town view. But other than this hill, Takinoue had little else to offer, and the nearest decent town, Kamikawa,... More
