Lots of runs

We went on a very powdery weekday and it was epic. No lines and heaps of space. Great for intermediate boarders.

Happoone is a very large resort, and it takes pretty much all day to ski all different areas. There are many really good runs for all ranges of skiers. They do seem to close many of the lifts if it is windy (quicker than other resorts in the area), which can then limit where you can get to. Also, many... More

You can only buy ski lift passes for a 1 or 2 days - not a longer period. Lines to buy ski passes can be long in the morning. Best bet is to buy them from the Happo Bus Terminal, if you are heading there to catch the shuttle bus to the lifts. We had great powder snows, and snow... More

If you want a challenge, this is the place to be a field for the more advanced skier there is a great selection of runs. if moguls are your style it is great too, sometimes we felt we were the only ones on the mountain with such a great variety of trails to choose from.

It's a decent sized ski area with different level pistes. Not too many red ones, quite a few (boring) green ones and some pretty steep expert black ones. There is hardly any preparation of the slopes, the service people are friendly, there's a variety of restaurants and cafes. The chairlifts are quite old and slow, in fact I've never seen... More

The snow when we arrived 2nd week January wasn't good and none of the lower runs were open. This was a bit of an issue as we had beginners in our group. Lucky we had plenty of snow fall during the 2 weeks we were in Hakuba. We found the ticket system a bit antiquated and having to line up... More

My friends and I wanted to go snowboarding while we were still in the area. My friends are still beginner level , so this resort was perfect for them. One girl no matter how much she tried at other resorts couldn't "toe turn" but after running the trails here, she learned in just a few hours. Looking forward to next... More

As first time visitors and non skiers this place is pretty amazing. We arrived not long after a big snow and all the lifts were going. Plenty of opportunity for beginners! Plenty of restaurants and things to keep you active when not on the slopes!

The Japanese are wonderful and gracious hosts. The many ski areas at Hakuba are quite small compared to Colorado for instance and the lifts can be a bit antiquated. If you are a good skier you will cover a resort in a day easily. I found the actual ski resort lacking in good easy read signs (like just having large... More

Although I was told the snow for this time of year was not as good as previous years, I had a blast riding Happoone. Definitely going to be returning within the next few years
