Having discovered the Japan Alps and especially the Happo one ski resort, I don't feel the need to go anywhere else to ski. Situated in the Hakuba valley, the ski resort is surrounded by other resorts only a few kilometres apart and connected by a free bus service which runs regularly. You can get on the buses in your ski... More

What an incredible place to ski! For beginners, there is no better place to get on the mountain and enjoy fresh powder, large, long, wide runs and fantastic service all up and down the mountain. Cost effective, fun and somewhere we'll definitely go again!

Having skied many of the top resorts in the world, I would rate Hakuba's snow the best in the world. Every second day brings a foot of fresh powder, giving you a multitude of options including spectacular tree skiing and side piste: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=U1P4dPbNYTM With lift tickets $50 per day, the friendly locals, the Japanese food up the mountains and in... One of the many resorts in Hakuba Valley, Happo One was the most accessible for us from our accommodation. We spent a few days here with varied snow conditions over 4 days. It wasn't too boring as there were a lot of little secret areas to explore. As for food, we loved Sun Terrace Panorama and Usagidaira Terrace as our... More

The resort is good, but can be covered in two days, but there is other ski areas local that are easily reached by local free buses. We had too much snow which meant the pistes did not all get compacted, so lots of deep snow and fog to test the most experienced skier.

Good variety of terrain, cheap lift tickets, slopes not busy in March. Ski schools also very affordable for lessons. Plenty of good restaurants on the slopes for lunch.

Several slopes open in late April with sherbert-like snow. No beginner stuff open then. Not crowded at that time. Nice views, and Cherry trees blooming.

Some really great runs here. The snow was awesome. The only real let down is the age of the lifts and the set out of the lifts. They were slow, and mostly they are two seater lifts. To get from the bottom of the mountain, right to the top was a matter of catching three separate lifts. But saying that,... More

Staying underneath the HappoOne Gondola, I rode Happo almost every day for 2 weeks. I am counting the days until I can be back there again in snow paradise. Unbelievable snow. Fantastic runs. HUGE resort area. Views to die for. And memories for a lifetime

Well organized, slopes are nicely groomed, staff are pretty friendly even tho they must be overwhelmed with the foreign influx. Really nice how the different areas link, giving a great variety for families with kids at different levels, and real value for money on the lift passes. Rentals and lift prices are reasonable. The restaurant was well designed with surprisingly... More
