This was one of our favourite attractions in Costa Rica and one of the best nature tours we have ever done and that is saying something as it is something we do everywhere we go. Ask for Kevin Villega - he spoke perfect english, has an extensive and incredible fauna and flora knowledge, has trained in tourism and sustainability and... More

We toured the old ranch & the sugar mill. A very interesting tour where we made tortillas the old fashioned way on an open fire. We did the boat tour on the river & saw & photographed monkeys, crocodiles, parrots, macaws, iguanas, white tailed deer,& many other birds. The guides were excellent, friendly & knowledgeable. We also had the "typical"... More

We drove to El Viejo from Paraiso, about an hour and a half, and were well rewarded with a knowledgeable guide (Kevin) and boat captain (Dennis). My wife and I were the only visitors in our tour, and during two hours on the river we saw crocodiles, many birds, howler monkeys and capuchin monkeys, raccoons, and plenty of lizards. We... More

This is a very well done tour - calm, not crowded, yet very interesting. We saw white faced monkeys ( our guide called them the bad boys of the jungle,) howler monkeys, crocodiles, a variety of birds, many iguanas. I also enjoyed the demonstration of sugar cane crushing and tortilla making. The casado lunch was very tasty, too. The grounds and... More

Its quite an adventure to reach this place...unpaved roads is an understatement. We are a family of three paying $60:00 pp for 2 meals each and a boat and wetlands tour. Our guide 'Kevin' was really nice and he did a wonderful job. We saw crocodiles, iguanas, bats, and scarlet macaws. It was just us and one other couple so... More

This private reserve abuts the Palo Verde National Park, with only a river separating the two. Our guide was very knowledgeable and was interested in his area and work. The estate house was very impressive, also. Our tour was in the off season, and it was just the two of us on the guide boat. We saw monkeys, crocodiles, bats... More

We did visit the place and the location, structure and history ther it is amazing!!! Taking you back in history of Costa Rica, the restaurant accommodates lots of people and a traditional lunche served. The Zip Line tour includes 6 cables with top of the line safety conditions and gear. Pura Vida!!

We did not take the boat trip, but we did get a guide and go out to the wetlands area. Saw lots of birds that we had not seen before in Costa Rica. We live about an hour away, so it was exciting to see new species. The gift shop and the restaurant at the entry are both very nice.

We cannot say enough about this trip. The service at El Viejo was amazing, the tour guide fantastic, the boat operator amazing and the wildlife was stunning. we saw more animals on this tour than any other one. We loved every minute of it. We had a great horseback ride followed by the fantastic river tour and then the sugar... More
