I went on a 3 day ski trip at Kagura resort with my husband. The snow was very slushy but we are just happy there are places like Kagura exists so we could ski even in the "hot" days. The weather was so warm there were literally people skiing topless (one guy). I wore one long sleeve shirt and felt... More

If you look for a day trip skiing from Tokyo (weekday or weekend) a really great place to go is Kagura (northwest of Tokyo). Train to Echigo-Yuzawa (70min), bus to Kagura (<30 min) and there it is. It's a quite wide spread resort resulting in some "transport" and it's mostly "red" ... but it's high altitude, not crowded and best... More

I went on my first snowboarding trip here. It has a nice beginner slope at the beginning and then a set of 3 that works well for first timers also. It was a nice little area with beautiful scenery.

very local atmosphere, can be a bit challenge if no Japanese language skill at all. excellent long slop for beginner and dedicate place for sled. not too commercial, really like it.
