Before entering, a staff gave a long talk in Japanese and translated to us by our guide. Walked through an ice cave like interior - sub zero degree coldness (thick clothing provided as part of package). Length of time will depend on how long you want to spend inside - actually quite a small place. I enjoyed the flowers outside... More

Coming from a tropical country, our visit to the ice pavilion was a different albeit a thoroughly enjoyable experience. Getting to experience the kind of ice in an enclosed environment is different from that in an open snow country. The ice crystals seem magnified and are really pretty. Of course the highlight of the visit was the -41 degree chamber.....what... More

A few km walk from Kamikawa JR station. This Ice Pavilion is situated along side of main road. Very different experience from usual sightseeing. In this place, it give you a chilling experience as low as -41 degree celsius. Before entering, they will give you a few item for experiments, such as wet tower, detergent bottle for bubble blowing, and... More

I like the sensaround panaromic video show about icebergs and the changing climate which see the disappearing of icebergs. It was fun and happy time when our group experienced making wet towel stiffen and blowing soap bubbles in the freezing temperature. Although we don't understand Japanese, we had fun figuring out what scientific experiments we were supposed to see. Oh,... More

The Ice Pavilion is located within the Kita-no-Mori Gardens. It is an attraction that recreates the winter temperatures (-20 degrees Celsius) in Hokkaido, so it can be quite a novelty for those who, like me, have not had a taste of winter in Hokkaido. The staff here are friendly and cheerful. At the entrance, you can choose to take part... More

Give an experience of how low temperature it could be in normal winter, or it comes a bit of exaggerated. Overall, it could be fun for kids, or someone who never experience minus degree.

Went to the Ice Pavilion as my kids wanted to experience the extreme cold. The staff were very friendly and nice although they spoke limited English. We tried some experiment, e.g. Making wet towel stand, bring colors back to our drawings and making ice cream by shaking a bottle filled with milk. We also get to experience extreme temperature at...
