Description: Donelda's Puffin Boat Tours is one of the 100 Must-See Destinations in...
Donelda's Puffin Boat Tours is one of the 100 Must-See Destinations in Unforgettable Atlantic Canada! On the 2 1/2 - 3 hour boat tour you'll be amazed at the beautiful rock formations on the way to the Islands , a stop to look at an old sea cave as well as a stop or two to feed some Bald Eagles. The Bird Islands are home to Grey Seals, Bald Eagles ,Atlantic Puffins and other sea birds. Our vessel, Highland Lass has all removable windows down both sides (refit 2012) for easy viewing and taking pictures from the comfort of your seat. Our tour spends over an hour at the Islands viewing birds (more if necessary) this does not include the time spent feeding Bald Eagles on the way to and from the Islands or stopping for anything else of interest, whales dolphins, gannets etc. The tour is offered in English , however there are written transcripts ( limited numbers of each ) of the whole tour available on the boat in English, French and German to make your experience more enjoyable. Please note that tours can be cancelled due to unsafe sailing conditions.

Donelda and her husband-captain are wonderful guides to the Bird Islands. From a birder's perspective, she knows her birds intimately & works hard to make sure everyone gets a chance to see them all. They run a lobstering business too & she fills in the time on the ride back to dock with stories of this laborious trade. Made me... More

Really was a highlight of our trip to Nova Scotia! Saw more eagles than on our trips to Alaska! Donelda was awesome making sure everyone could spot the various birds and answering any questions. Learned a lot about puffins and lobster fishing. Don't missed this tour!

Donelda is very informative and made the trip interesting - even for those who aren't big bird people. We saw lots of birds, seals and beautiful scenery.

An excellent trip to the Bird Islands. We saw puffins, dozens of bald eagles, dozens of grey seals, and many seabirds. Some of the wild eagles will fly to the boat and swope down to catch a fish tossed to them by the crew. There is inside seating and an area at the rear of the boat where you can... More

We rented a car and drove to Donelda's boat from the Cruise Terminal in Sydney NS. The times were a bit tight since it is a 45 minute drive and we had to rent a car to get out to the boat and back. We made it with some time to spare. The boat is set up to let everyone... More

We loved this tour! It was informative with information being given as we drove out to viewing areas so that we knew exactly what to look for. We were shown a variety of birds including puffins and mini penguins. Watching the eagles catch fish right beside the boat was spectacular! This tour is very reasonably priced and worth every cent!

Wow - talk about getting exactly what was advertised! Our tour on August 5th had us up close and personal with bald eagles beside the boat on the way to the islands! The Islands themselves are a sight to behold and literally covered with a variety of birds - yes lots of Puffins - and gray seals. Donelda knows everything... More

THIS IS A DEFINITE MUST DO!!!! Don't miss this fantastic tour. Bring your camera, be ready to be in awe of the bald eagles, puffins, seals and many other birds. Donelda gave us a very informative info on what birds we will be seeing and about their habits and such. Someone counted 27 bald eagles we saw when we went... More

We signed on with Donelda's for a trip to Bird Island out of Englishtown. A lively crew of two plus some very interesting people on the tour. Despite a gimpy microphone, we learned and saw a lot to and from the island. John is a good seaman and handled the boat around the island in Atlantic swells. Donelda knows her... More
