Description: Donelda's Puffin Boat Tours is one of the 100 Must-See Destinations in...
Donelda's Puffin Boat Tours is one of the 100 Must-See Destinations in Unforgettable Atlantic Canada! On the 2 1/2 - 3 hour boat tour you'll be amazed at the beautiful rock formations on the way to the Islands , a stop to look at an old sea cave as well as a stop or two to feed some Bald Eagles. The Bird Islands are home to Grey Seals, Bald Eagles ,Atlantic Puffins and other sea birds. Our vessel, Highland Lass has all removable windows down both sides (refit 2012) for easy viewing and taking pictures from the comfort of your seat. Our tour spends over an hour at the Islands viewing birds (more if necessary) this does not include the time spent feeding Bald Eagles on the way to and from the Islands or stopping for anything else of interest, whales dolphins, gannets etc. The tour is offered in English , however there are written transcripts ( limited numbers of each ) of the whole tour available on the boat in English, French and German to make your experience more enjoyable. Please note that tours can be cancelled due to unsafe sailing conditions.

This tour is a must-do if you are interested in seeing the wild birds of Eastern Canada. It is run by the husband and the wife, who both wake up and go lobster fishing at 3 am the same day. The tour has some humour, and you learn about the history of the area, the birds and about lobster fishing.... More

Boat tour to Bird Islands was great. Hosts are well informed and provide a great deal of information. Both are Lobster fishermen and provide a volume of information re this industry that we found very interesting

A fantastic boat trip out to Bird Island with Donelda, who has been doing this run for many years. She immediately makes you feel like you are in safe boating hands as you head off to Bird Island. She shares her knowledge on the area, and quickly identifies all the birds we see on our trip, explaining what's going on... More

An ideal trip for nature and bird lovers! We see a vast variety of different sea birds not too mention none too few bald eagles!! The proprietor was very knowledgeable and kind and did not dally in port. We did a little rock hunting around the beach as we waiting for the departure time and saw schools of beautiful purple... We had an amazing tour with Donelda. On the way out to Bird Islands (about a 45-minute ride), she explained all about the birds we could expect to see. We were even visited by a bald eagle--apparently, they know the boat, and if they're hungry, they'll come out so Donelda will throw them a fish! Spectacular photo op, even before... More

We managed to find a day with good weather, and decided to go Puffin hunting. The boat is comfortable, Donelda is incredibly knowledgeable and the talk on the way out to the birds lets you know what to expect. The Puffins are very small, so spottin them is a little tricky, but definitely possible. All the other birds are great... More

The owner of the B&B we were staying at kept telling us about this boat tour but we were busy hiking and traveling around the Cabot Trail. On the last day we decided to go on the 9:30AM tour...and what an incredible time!! My wife and I love eagles which come right up to the boat as Donelda feeds them... More

My husband and I took Donelda's trip yesterday and we saw a TON of birds, more than we've seen on any other boat trips. This trip is also all about the birds, which is what we wanted. The boat is large and comfortable. The seats are padded and clean. If you want your window out/open to see better, no problem.... More

First Rate! Donelda clearly knows her stuff and obviously loves what she and her husband do. Knowledgable , experienced and enthusiastic, she gives so much to make this experience wonderful. The islands and the Puffins , razorbills, gullimots and other birds are wonderful , but so too are the seals, the whales, and the bald eagles. ! My friends and... More
