First time in Hecla. I must say it's pretty idyllic. The town was like going back in time..and it's all part of the park. The marina was a short bike ride from our campsite..the lighthouse is impressive..the cinnamon bun was gigantic and expensive at the concessions/restaurant at the marina. The sceneries are wonderful..the layers of rocks and soil to one... More

Hecla island is like stepping into a whole different world. It's quiet and peaceful. A slow pace to help relax and rejuvenate. The park is well groomed with almost all areas being lake side. It is the perfect place to regain your sanity. It also has a nice number of geocaches.

The best part of the island is that it's groomed and maintained but feels pristine and untouched! One of our favourite places is Sunset Beach, as it's a dog friendly beach. It's a narrow rocky beach so you really don't get many people there, which makes it a great fairly secluded place for a swim with the dog! Just make... More

Excellent walking trails. The island is kept like a big park. The variety of birds makes it a great location to enjoy them. I assume it would also be a great location for bird watchers. Midweek, It is quiet, peaceful and relaxing.

Beautiful, quiet scenic park.If you love nature, serenity, beautiful scenery, very few cars or traffic ,lots of bike or rollerblade paths. Then you will love Hecla. The lighthouse retaurant in Gull harbour or the hotel up the road are both pretty decent for dining. You can camp, fish, boat, hike, run, rollerblade, photograph wildlife or the lake etc... This is a great getaway from the ratrace to calm your mind... More

We did not really explore the park to its fullest due to inclement weather. What we saw was very nice. There is a hush all around and it sparks images of yesteryear.

We wanted to stay there for a couple of days but the hotel during that year was closed. Cabins were full as well. We just spent the whole day fishing, driving and roaming around the area. There's a beach as well and a good spot for picnic.

The cabins at Hecla give you a taste of tiny living. They do not have running water or bathrooms. However the beaches, bike paths and marina make up for that. We had a blast. We are already planning are next trip.
