I walked there from the resort. There is a forest path that runs more or less along the road. I arrived early in the morning and sunlight was just perfect. There is a little store there and a small petrol station even. A guest house and a restaurant too. Lovely.

I have been to Hecla about a dozen time in summer and it's one of the best location in manitoba to relax, swim or to play golf. The island has very beautiful scenery and a variety of wildlife. A boat tour from gull harbour is also a wonderful experience.

We've been visiting Hecla Island for many years. It's beautiful, peaceful , and a quiet campground especially during the week days. Many hiking trails, bike paths, golfing or just sit back, relax and enjoy the quiet.

There is much to see in this place, the village, gull harbour, the all new lookout at the harbour, and much more. A very peaceful place.

We were staying at the nearby Lakeview Hecla Resort so decided to do some touring. Note that you will need a permit to be in the park unless you are just at the Resort or visiting someone in one of the few villages. We travelled a short distance to the Gull Harbour area, including a newly-built lookout tower (about 4... More

Hecla is beautiful. Wild orchids, wild strawberries can be found at the side of the road. We can always be assured of seeing wildlife when visiting the park. One occasion found us up-front close and personal with a moose while on our bicycles. For accommodation there are rooms that can be rented or campsites available. There is a very nice... More

First time in Hecla. I must say it's pretty idyllic. The town was like going back in time..and it's all part of the park. The marina was a short bike ride from our campsite..the lighthouse is impressive..the cinnamon bun was gigantic and expensive at the concessions/restaurant at the marina. The sceneries are wonderful..the layers of rocks and soil to one... More

Hecla island is like stepping into a whole different world. It's quiet and peaceful. A slow pace to help relax and rejuvenate. The park is well groomed with almost all areas being lake side. It is the perfect place to regain your sanity. It also has a nice number of geocaches.

The best part of the island is that it's groomed and maintained but feels pristine and untouched! One of our favourite places is Sunset Beach, as it's a dog friendly beach. It's a narrow rocky beach so you really don't get many people there, which makes it a great fairly secluded place for a swim with the dog! Just make... More
