I visited the Village of Margaritos 25.06.2014 at Crete in Rethymno. It was a very nice village up in the mountings. This village is a very popular tourist attraction with nice shops and restaurants. The buildings there are very nice. I went in to a small restaurant for a cup of coffe. The service in the restaurant was very good.... More

It is charming, less crowded than many other areas and held such history. We explored the town by accident while waiting to eat at Selene. The shops were fantastic, the walk to the castle was quaint and the views were gorgeous.

This is a lovely old and unspoilt village on a hill with a maze of tiny streets, ancient churches dating back to 1600 and at the top an old castle (although not much remains). It was pleasant to spend a couple of hours just wandering around taking loads of photos (it's that type of place). Unfortunately tourist coaches do stop... More

Pyrgos is probably the most overrated place in entire Thira. The place is the highest point of the entire island which allow you to have outstanding views but at the same time its quite windy. Its a unique place to discover and its very easy to reach. The bus that would take you to Perissa would have a stop here... More

really interesting to catch some history of how the island life was to what it is now...small rooms give the opportunity to experience the lifestyle from rich living to poverty.... really well laid out and a really interesting section of wine production... worth a look, the village of pygros is worth a visit to, great bakery :-)

It was probably the best thing we did. We coved the Island from one end to the other, dined in 3 different places, and been to every single attraction. We took a tiny Nissan and it costed us (back then in 2010) about 70 Euros, and we kept driving around all day and evening. We took pictures every where. Stopped... More

You don't need a guide it's a "straight" meandering shot through town. Look for Gavalas Family Winery! A lovely morning!

I expected to see castles and ruins but this turned out to be an interesting maze of steps and alleys leading to quaint restaurants, shops and even a tiny church that was open to the public. The doors were open wide but no one was present in this well preserved chapel Candles flickered and the aroma of antique was amazing.... More

My feet and legs hurt from the morning trek down to the old port in Fira. Missing a bus to Akrotiri , just decided to go to the nearer one, that is Pyrgos. Nothing grand was expected on this trek... The climb up started slow, just followed the sign to "Cafe Franco", the place was quite deserted with exceptions of... More
