My husband and I visited with the intention of checking out the appropriateness of taking school children on a trip. We loved the place. Plenty of animals to see, (especially the white wallabies and peacock) rabbits and guinea pigs to stroke, nice little coffee shop, lovely walk along the river seeing a red squirrel hide. There's a lovely playground and... More

I have been several times to the zoo and have always found it good. However, on Sunday 24th May it was a most disappointing visit. I took my 2yr old son and we arrived just after 10am when the zoo opened. The back of the map said you could feed and handle small animals from 10 am onwards but this... More

Had great weather today so decided to visit Kirkley Hall. These was some lovely gardens to walk through, plenty to keep the kids (4 yrs old) happy with outdoor play areas and animals which were quite tame. Would recommend..only if the weather is good as there is not much to do indoors.

A great day out, especially with children and the entry prices are very agreeable. However, some animals looked distressed as they had missing fur which seemed odd! There way also a dead bird stuck in the future lemur play pen, and this distressed some of the smaller kids as it seemed to have suffered a painful death with being caught... More

Thank you for your review, we hope you enjoyed your visit despite the couple of negative experiences you had. I have spoken to the zoo manager and they are just waiting for the arborists to arrange for the bird to be removed however, I am incredibly sorry that this caused distress to your group. I sincerely hope that you will... More

Thankfully the rain doesn't put the staff or animals off!! We went today for our son's 3rd birthday along with both lots of grandparents and our (almost) 2 year old. There were more animals than anticipated, regular feed and handling demonstrations, and superb staff. The walled garden, parks and soft play were also a hit. A nice little sit down... More

Went as a family with two kids under 4 and had a nice day out. The zoo section was good but a but small, there is plenty for the kids to see and do and the aquarium is good. The gardens are the best part for me as they are stunning!! The walled garden is lovely and filled with wonderful... More

We had a nice visit to Kirkley Hall Zoological Gardens over the May bank holiday weekend. As others have said, there is actually quite a lot to see and our young son very much enjoyed himself throughout the day peering at the various creatures. The walk around the grounds was lovely but by this stage, the small person had fallen... More

our kids loved their day out, seeing the animals and sitting on the tractor. We spent most of the day walking around and having our picnic in the sunshine. I would always take a picnic, as the food is expensive if you have a few children with you.

We have a 2 year old daughter and this was perfect for her. There was so much more to do and see than we initially thought. Plenty of animals, a nice café, zip wire and lovely woodland walk. Well worth it and even if you don't or can't afford to go into the zoo the woodland walk is free and... More
