It is the deepest canyon in Europe, and second deepest in the world...

It is the deepest canyon in Europe, and second deepest in the world after the Grand Canyon of Colorado, USA. 78km long, and up to 1.300m deep, this "tear of Europe", as it is also called, is a great natural and tourist attraction not only in the area, but in the entire country.

I can't even begin to describe how beautiful the Tara gorge is! We stopped the car and jumped into the river for a swim because it just looked so amazing we didn't wanna miss out on the experience! The water was cool but it was crystal clear! It was a great experience swimming in such a natural environment. You won't... More

Tara canyon is one of the best kept secrets of Montenegro and the whole region of Southern Croation, Bosia-Herzegovina and Serbia: It is the second deepest canyon of the world (!) although not remotely as long as the Grand Canyon and not even as impressive as the Gorges du Verdun in the South of France. But Tara can be travelled... More

Take a raft down down the canyon and enjoy this amazing natural river. In September, the rafting is slow and family friendly. Take a dip in the water if you get a chance. It's freezing cold but a great experience.

Great for a calm "rafting experience", or just to watch from the massive bridge. The water are freezing, so if you jump in from one of the cliffs, just do it, don't hesitate too much.

Considered to be the deepest canyon in Europe, the Tara River Canyon in the Durmitor National Park is certainly spectacular. It is easily accessed from the small town of Zabljak and is definitely worth a visit.

We visited couple of places to see the canyon. We went to Tara Bridge first which was pretty, but it's just a bridge. We then did a hike to Curevac. We parked the car about 5km away and hiked up. There's a few trail going up to Curevac and we did 2 of the trails. Both are quite easy, doable... More

A deep-cut gorge that winds through wooded slopes. The path along the rime is uneven but fairly easy to negotiate and yields a number of good viewpoints. Does not match the Grand Canyon for variety and size or the Grand Canyon of the Verdon (France) for the sense of sheer scale and grandeur.
