We start with an excursion on the vineyard Monte Serra, which is an ex crater of the Etna. Here we have the Nerello Mascalese and Nerello Cappuccio vines, with major part pre-philoxera and older than 100 years. We will continue by visiting the ‘palmento’ which dates from 1700. Following the tour there will be a local brunch accompanied with our most selective volcanic wines. « less

We had a wonderful afternoon at Benanti as part of our honeymoon. Salvino could not have been more helpful, generous or engaging. He clearly feels very passionately about what he does, and strives for the highest standards. Given this, you might expect a reluctant attitude towards tourists distracting him from his primary job of making world class wines. Nothing could... More

We visited Benanti with 2 other couples. We toured the vineyards, saw how wine was made in the past and then had a lovely lunch while tasting 8 Benanti wines, which were fabulous. We thoroughly enjoyed the education we received from Antonio and Salvino, not to mention their charming and engaging personalities. They're well educated, worldly yet down-to-earth, and extremely... We visited the winery and had a great visit. Salvino, Antonio and Valentino were perfect hosts and very informative. They allowed us to visit their vineyard, sharing their passion and knowledge for their wines and were the perfect hosts. We had a special request to sample their grappa along with their lovely wines and they did not disappoint. We had... More

After meeting Salvino one of the winemakers, at a wine bar in Taormina. He told me to email him to set up a tasting at his vineyard. we arrived at 11am and were greeted by Salvino & Valentina his on site sommelier. He quickly opened us a bottle of Brut and talked about his wines and his time living in... More

My husband met Salvino in Taormina the Friday before we visited so we arranged via email our Monday visit. The visit consisted of just the two of us and we were guided through the property and the tasting by Valentina. Valentina is just wonderful and is extremely knowledgeable about Etna wines! We started the visit with a glass of Brut... More

We drove into the mountains on a rainy, raw day in April. We were four adults and a teenager. Given the weather we did not have high hopes for the visit to Benanti Winery. We could not have been more wrong. Our sommeliers and guide, Valentina, was welcoming, engaging and extremely knowledgable about the Etna wine region, the history of... More

Salvino Benanti proved a splendid guide and host on our visit to his and his family's vineyard. The Benanti vineyards are situated on the slopes of Etna and it was a privilege to visit and learn about the history, propagation of the grapes and to see the old presses still in existence. The wine tasting was also a delight -... More

From the tour in the vineyards to the visit within the old winery, the owner (yes, yhe producer himself gives the tours) could explain every little detail pertaining to the place, its history, evolution through the years and the current process. We were impressed with the evident dedication and passion in his words. The wine we tasted was un a... More

We were there last Sunday and we tought it was going to be a usual wine tasting, but Antoinio did our afternoon an amazing experience. He had such a knowledge about wine and he was very kind with us. We would like to thank Antonio and his brother for the experience and we would like to recommend a wine tasting... More

For a long time, the wines of Sicily were plentiful but suffered in quality. They were well below the quality and reputation of many other Italian areas like Tuscany, the Piedmonte and Veneto. That opinion may have to be reconsidered as winemakers like the Benatis continue to upgrade the reputation of Sicilian production in the future. The winery is a... More
