Nice walk, nice sport, nice view ! Totally worth it, even if a little bit expensive in my opinion (10'000 COP p.p.)

Colombia is such a beautiful country and this place exemplifies that beauty. I am from Colombia myself although from another city. I visited Guatape in a backpacking trip i did with one of my cousins through Antioquia as this was one of the best places i visited. So beautiful. the way up is challenging so take your time to get... More

To get to the rock you can drive there or walk. The walk takes about 45 minutes. There is horses there for $5.00 each and the guide will walk along with you...the horses stop at the metal road grate so you will have to walk the final 15 minutes. It is 750 steps (narrow cement staircase) to the very top.... More

My friends and I debated on whether to book the tour or not. We ended up doing it on our own where we definitely saved money and time. The tour would have had to pick up so many passengers and take an entire day. On our own, we were able to leave and be back in Medellin- El Poblado from... More

The view from the top of this 200 m - rock is just wonderful. It definitely worth to climb up the 650 stairs. Take a bottle of water with you. The prices are ridiculous up there.

My friend and I went on a Monday. it cost about 11,000pesos (USD$6) to go one way in a Colectivo from Medellin. Ask them to stop on Piedra del Peñol, just 10 minutes away from Guatape. There you can go uphill, or pay 8,000 pesos (USD$4) for a small but steep ride up. Pay the entry fee (I think it... More

I was in Medellin for only 2.5 days. We did not hear much about this place but decided to get someone to drive us there to see it. We were blown away. This is one of the most amazing sights I have seen. I would highly recommend visiting if in Medellin area. We paid 100$ for a trip there and... More

The pictures say it all. 1.5 hour drive from Medellin in the town of Guatape. You go up this massive rock on a 30 min walk and you get a 360 degrees of magical views. Make sure you go on a clear and sunny day so you can get advantage of the spectacular natural scenery around you. You wont be... More

Well worth finding your way to this extraordinary geological wonder. Drive right up to the parking area, where there are a number of gift shops and restaurants. Climb the 650 or so steps to the shop/restaurant area with clean toilet facilities. The climb is hard but taken steadily it can be done by most. there are places to stop and... More

Piedra del Penol is about a 1.5 hr drive from Medellin and well worth every minute and Peso! The approach road starts getting congested with the huge amount of tourists visiting this monument so its best to get out of your vehicle and walk up to the entrance rather than spend an additional 30 minutes inching your way up to...
