This place is simply awesome!!! The view can't be beaten. All the mountains and the labyrinth of water around them is magnificent. Any picture you take up on the top, is postal worth. Also, there have been several improvements, which gives more offerings to spend time there. Also, it is a great cardio, I went up with my parents and... More

We climbed El Penol just before Christmas and it was wonderful! The views were breathtaking. You have to pay a fee to climb the stairs, but it's not too much. The stairs are definitely steep, so I wouldn't recommend the climb to people who aren't in good physical condition. In order to get to the rock, we took a bus... More

A lot of steps to get up there, but the views are really nice. One the top you can get a beer. Possibility to leave bigger bags guarded at the bottom of the rock for around $1.

I'm not into steps, but the view is amazing even from ground level. It reminds me of Ayers Rock in Australia--a totally bizarre rock just sticking up out of the ground. Guatape , the town at the base, is colorful and charming as well. Well worth the day trip from Medelin.

Easy to get to, and moderately easy to climb, the Piedra offers unparalleled views of the Guatape area. Take another 50 or so stairs and get to the top viewing deck for an even better lookout view.

I spent a day in Guatape with some friends and I really enjoyed it. The views are really great so the effort to "climb" to the top is worth it. Don't miss the opportunity to visit Guatape village with very colorful streets.

Hey this is a tough vertical stair climb, but vale la pena (worth it)! I highly recommend the climb as you can see for miles. One can get a wonderful view of the lake with all it´s crawling inlets. A Wonderful way to see the lake!!

We recently took the drive and the 675 stairs to the top of Del Penol- was a wonderful day. The site is well organised with separate channels for going up and going down...which does make it harder to quit! However it is a stunning climb and the view both at the top and throughout are spectacular. You can also reward... More
