Elmley still is an amazing place but it is turning more and more into a commercial venture. The use of that 'honesty box' for parking is questionable when we know that the reserves are funded nationally and internationally by public money. Other commercial developments which are being steadily introduced are inevitably going to alter the character of what used to... More

Lovely place to visit. Very well maintained. Friendly staff happy to chat. Clean toilets. £5 donation requested in an honesty box at the car park. My 7 year old daughter is currently writing a list of all the creatures she saw. If you and your kids enjoy a walk go to the hides especially where the frogs are with their... More

Lovely hides and a nice walk with loads of birds, rabbits and hares. The toilets by the car park could do with a sign designating gents and ladies. A great few hours on a bank holiday afternoon

Spent too few hours on the reserve. We recognised about 0 species including redshank, oystercatchers, reed bunting, reed warblers, avocets, wheatear, a marsh harrier, shoveller, lapwings, coots with tiny chicks, sedge warbler and many more... So many of the birds were so close, especially those alongside the drive to the carpark. A really great day out. Use the toilets at... More

Wow just WOW!! Spent the last 2 nights in one of the gorgeous Shepherds Huts on this stunning reserve. It may be a teeny little hut but it's beautifully formed and the ultimate in back to basics romantic space. Super clean, super warm in the ice cold conditions we were in thanks to the wood burning stove and just darn... More

Been going to Elmley on and off for about 7yrs. Sheppey offered unparalleled wildlife sites with Elmley the jewel in the crown. Fantastic drive into the reserve with Marsh Harrier, Lapwing and Kestrel amongst others all usually displaying well. The main car park offers the possibility of Barn Owl and a host of passerines feeding off the bird feeders. The... More

This is a wonderful place to visit, even if you are not a bird watcher. You can walk along the natural coastline, and if you wish you can sit in a small bay and bask in the quiet and beauty of this peaceful part of the Isle of Sheppey. On a lovely summer day, it's the best place to be.

Had a very nice trip out to Elmely and had a close encounter of the a not so sweet guy in a car who really got his feathers in a knot. After pulling into a parking slot we stepped out of the car briefly onto the road which by the way is a public footpath to be told in a... More

My girlfriend and I wanted a tranquil few nights away from the city and that's exactly what we got! Elmley is run by a lovely couple who were extremely accommodating and so friendly! Our hut was amazing and the view was awesome! We couldn't of asked for anything more from a holiday in the UK! A perfect getaway and we... More
