If you're looking for a day out enjoying nature and keeping your eye out for the rarities this is the place to go. There are vast miles and miles of nature reserve on the island, you get to drive through a field full of cows to get to it (my favourite bit) and once you're there you'd better be ready... More

Nice and peaceful area to walk and relax. We didn't see a lot of birds though, not sure if we were not patient enough or if it wasn't the right season to come...but we enjoyed it nonetheless. We also saw a hare that was very close to us!

We loved ENNR and Vanellus! We haven't been able to stop talking about the comfortable bed and the breathtaking views. It was a very enjoyable trip and we'll do it again for sure!

This place gives you the perfect mix of solitude and natural beauty, take some Wellington boots it's can get a bit wet under foot and some binoculars. You will get to see some amazing wading birds as well as some raptors hovering over head. It's stark landscape is quite surreal you would not believe you are 1 hour from London... More

I purchased this as a birthday treat for my partner who really enjoys nature photography, thinking 'well a bit tame for me, but he will love the wildlife'. I had no idea this gem existed and would be so stunning. From the minute we started along the drive it was breathtakingly beautiful. I could not believe my eyes. A warm... More

We recently spent three days in a shepherd's hut right on the reserve. The abundance of wildlife and wildfowl is amazing; a photographer's dream. It was all so delightfully peaceful. Plenty of fresh air and nice long walks too. Come for the right reasons - make sure that you aren't after bright lights or nightlife! You are also within striking... More

Elmley Bird Reserve on Sheppey attracts visitors from all over the world. It is totally unspoilt and there is a huge variety of wildlife to enjoy. A relative of mine who visits Elmley but lives in France has built up a wonderful blog of photos taken here. He has visited many other reserves but considers Elmley one of the best.... More

Found it a challenge to get to the car park. It's a long drive from the main road. The cattle seemed to like nothing more than to block our car's way which was rather problematic upon entering. It was busier when we left so didn't have a problem then. Apparently we parked in the wrong place to start with. We... More
