We recently spent three days in a shepherd's hut right on the reserve. The abundance of wildlife and wildfowl is amazing; a photographer's dream. It was all so delightfully peaceful. Plenty of fresh air and nice long walks too. Come for the right reasons - make sure that you aren't after bright lights or nightlife! You are also within striking... More

We went to a wedding in a barn on the Nature Reserve. It was a lovely day and the views and wildlife just made it even more spectacular. I would definitely recommend.

Elmley Bird Reserve on Sheppey attracts visitors from all over the world. It is totally unspoilt and there is a huge variety of wildlife to enjoy. A relative of mine who visits Elmley but lives in France has built up a wonderful blog of photos taken here. He has visited many other reserves but considers Elmley one of the best.... More

Found it a challenge to get to the car park. It's a long drive from the main road. The cattle seemed to like nothing more than to block our car's way which was rather problematic upon entering. It was busier when we left so didn't have a problem then. Apparently we parked in the wrong place to start with. We... More

Beautiful and scenic - that's just the road! Two gorgeous walks to the Swale. Most amazing barn that would be perfect for a wedding.

I do not think this is a commercial venture as suggested by another reviewer. It was my first visit to Elmley and it will not be my last. The drive from the entrance to the car park is almost 2 miles, but during that slow drive, I was lucky to encounter many birds very close to the road. I was... More

Elmley still is an amazing place but it is turning more and more into a commercial venture. The use of that 'honesty box' for parking is questionable when we know that the reserves are funded nationally and internationally by public money. Other commercial developments which are being steadily introduced are inevitably going to alter the character of what used to... More

Lovely place to visit. Very well maintained. Friendly staff happy to chat. Clean toilets. £5 donation requested in an honesty box at the car park. My 7 year old daughter is currently writing a list of all the creatures she saw. If you and your kids enjoy a walk go to the hides especially where the frogs are with their... More

Lovely hides and a nice walk with loads of birds, rabbits and hares. The toilets by the car park could do with a sign designating gents and ladies. A great few hours on a bank holiday afternoon
