Although this is part of the IWM Duxford, it has it's own review page, so here goes!! When entering the museum, it is worth walking round the back and in that way, as there is a very poignant memorial. The museum is packed with a wide range of American Aircraft. The B-52 is immense. Words cannot do it justice. The... More

I have put a more in depth review under the IWM Duxford section but for people specifically going for the American War Museum I would warn you to phone ahead to make sure it is open. On the day we went. 30 October, it was closed for a launch event and this was not advertised on the website or mentioned... More

Contained within IWM Duxford, the American Aircraft Museum is a must if visiting IWM and there is no additional charge. Contains many fascinating exhibits from WW2 to more recent times, including a Boeing B52 Stratofortress and a Lockheed SR-71 Blackbird; the latter displayed with the engines below the airframe which I thought most interesting.

I visited with a friend, we arrived as it opened. It cost £17.50 each to get in. The inevitable gift shop but some items were worth looking at and not overly priced. The museum is well laid out with clear signage and a mini bus to transport less able customers around the site. The place is huge but well served... More

Went to a special guided tour of the SR-71 Blackbird preceded by an illustrated talk. An excellent day and to be recommended. You learn much more about the design and engineering of a machine when an expert explains it all to you. We were shown around the plane with all the features pointed out to us. I would have expected... More
