This is a must. Take the hour tour, it's not too long, trust me! The villa is spectacular, and the story behind it is facinating. Combine it with a water taxi tour.

Visited the villa by taxi boat located just next to the Lido - 5 euros one way however if you buy a return the entrance to the villa is a reduced rate by a few euros. The villa itself books English tour groups every 15minutes in small sized groups. Our guide Samantha was brilliant - lots of little details were... More

I'm not a huge fan of gardens (that's my wife's department) but what lured me in was the fact that 2 scenes from 2 famous movies were filmed here. Both Casino Royale and Star Wars - Attack of the Clones has scenes filmed here. I can see why they chose this place. It's beautiful and very picturesque. As we approached... More

I knew this villa would be amazing but I was still far from reality. After walking 20min, going through the gate, the villa appears, isolated from everything, lost on this quiet part of the hill, with an breathtaking garden. Can I stay here for ever ?

We took a boat trip from Menaggio to visit the beautifully located Villa Balbianello. I believe it may be approached by road from Lenno also. The house is very interesting with a few quirky features passionately shown by a local knowledgeable guide. House tours are in different languages. The most recent resident was an explorer and this aspect of his... More

This is an interesting villa in an absolutely beautiful location. Our guide was excellent and brought the house to life with vivid descriptions of the Count who lived there and developed the house and gardens. You can get to the villa by walking from Lenno but the walk was a bit uphill and would not be suitable for all. You... More

What a beautiful villa...you can have a guided tour around the villa which cost 13 euros well worth the money then wander round the gardens....we walked through the lovely woods to it then took the shuttle boat back which was 3 euros but would do it the other way round next time as the walk there was uphill....so I would... Amazing gardens surrounding this very beautifully maintained villa. The guide told the history of this place very well in English and with a degree of affection.

I saw Villa Balbianello from the lake during a taxiboat tour with Filippo (Barindelli Taxi Boat). It was a romantic great tour! The next time I want to visit the villa!
