We were disappointed with the garden in Villa Balbianello. We didn’t view the house. Probably best to come in walking from Lenno. Garden does not compare with Carlotta or Melzi or Serbelloni.

We had a great afternoon out at Villa Balbianello on Lake Como. It is where some scenes of Casino Royale were filmed, as well as other movies. It is in the hands of the Italian National Trust, so there is an entrance fee, and you can only view the inside of the villa on a guided tour. The guides speak... More

If you are staying around Lake Como you must take a trip to see Villa Balbianello but don't take the organised trips, they work out so much more expensive. Do it by yourself by getting the ferry to Lenno and then walking the short walk round to the Villa. It is a very steep walk however once you get inside... More

This was the highlight of our Lake Como visit. Do this in style by arranging the tour with Bellagio Water Taxis. A classic boat with entertaining guide transports you directly to the site vs being hauled over in a ferry with the masses. That way you're also guaranteed to get the guided tour inside the villa. The views are world... More

Unfortunately I visited Villa Balbianello in the afternoon of the day I hiked up to the old castle in Varenna, so my legs were pretty much in shreds as I got off the ferry in Lenno. As a result, the climb up to the villa almost finished me off and I made sure to catch the speedboat service back -... More

The Villa Balbiabello is well worth a boat trip to. You can have a guided tour of the Villa and all its contents and then stroll through the beautiful gardens. The history of the Villa and the gardens were fantastic and of course the location right on the lake was breathtaking.

We visited on a beautiful a September afternoon and decided to arrive in style, by taking the small boat shuttle from the village (Lenno). Although a little more expensive, the trip was worth it, just to see the villa from the perspective of the lake. The villa and grounds are maintained to a high standard by the Italian equivalent of... More

Once you leave the ferry boat when arrive in Lenno start walking to your left. It's a bit of a hike so if you have a problem walking consider taking a small shuttle boat to the villa. The shuttle boats are also to the left of the ferry dock in the small bay. After you get there make sure to... More

Visited this Villa in April and was amazed at the collection of wonderful items on display. Thoroughly recommend taking the tour with a guide.

Beautiful location, but not wheelchair friendly. There was a wedding taking place the day we were there which added a touch of glamour and romance to our visit. The girl at the reception desk was really friendly and chatted for ages about the sights on Lake Como when we showed her copies of photos my grandparents had taken on the... More
