Great waves on a quiet beach

What a gorgeous quiet beach with great waves!!! Spent several days here while at the Marriott. Walk down the beach to Lola's for a terrific lunch!

A long distance off the paved trail. Be prepared to roll-up the windows in the dusty trip to Playa Avellanes. The beach is nice, lots of youngsters learning to surf. Parking is plentiful, but can be a trick. Lola's is the nearest beach bar/restaurant and has a giant pig, named Lola. Food and drink is pricey here, but they got... More

Don't miss this one for enjoying a private experience. Good surfing is you surf. Lola's is a beautiful outdoor food and drinks under a canopy of native trees. You might even see Lola the pig that loves to be on the beach and around the people! Loved the day I spent there!

unspoiled, but far from desolate. Beautiful stretch of sand, good waves, and a couple terrific places to get get breakfast or lunch. Went four times in five days staying at the nearby JW Marriott.

Beach club is excellent ---- strong drinks, very peaceful environment, and the food is also excellent.

This beach has beautiful sand and clear blue water. Waves are good depending on the tide for surfers but is always perfect for a beach day- just watch out for the rocks. It is also close to Lola's which is a great restaurant.

Took a day trip to this beach for some surf lessons. We stuck closer to shore but there were some advanced surfers farther out. Definitely known as a surfing spot! The beach isn't bad but it's nothing too impressive. There's a local bar/restaurant right on the beach called Lola's which offers food and bathrooms. We didn't eat there but it... More

If you have a car, do yourself a favour and have lunch at Lola's. It's the only place here, so you can't miss it! It was the best food we had in Costa Rica. The place was crowded although it was 'green season'. And quite expensive compared to other places, but worth it and we just loved everything about it.... More
