We visited here as part of a cruise shore excursion while docked in Costa Maya. It's about a one hour drive from the port. The roadways from the port are in very good condition and well-signed to get to the ruins. There is a parking lot and a small visitor area which includes vendors, food, and rest rooms. Fortunately our... More

We did the Chacchoben Ruins in Costa Maya. We saw many ancient sites, and were able to climb them. There were several structured to see. Our guide was very informative, and was able to answer many questions we had about the ruins and the Mayan civilization. It was a hour ride each way- very relaxing ride on a coach bus... More

My wife and I booked this trip though Native Choice and I recommend them. The only negative was that their office was four or five blocks from the Ship terminal. But once there, our group of about 20 was put on a comfortable and new bus for the ride to the Mayan site. Our tour guide Kaci (or Kasi?) was... More

If you are in the Mahahual, Xcalak, Limones or even Filipe Carrillo Puerto area, this is worth a visit. There are two large temples and a smaller one in open setting and some other ruins in the jungle. Not as big or shaded as Coba nor out in the open as Tulum. The several time we have been there it... We went to Cozumel last January, with Royal Caribbean, on a horseback tour of "Mayan Ruins" that was only a hole in the ground and reproductions. But this, this was awesome stuff. One of Norwegian Cruise Lines shore excursions, we chose it so we could have a little extra time in Costa Maya. From Elizabeth, our tour guide, and Romero,... More

I loved this site. It's not as big as other Maya temple sites but it's still quite impressive. The flora & fauna (squirrel monkeys and red fox) were also amazing. It's not too far from the cruise port of Costa Maya but they are very bumpy roads. Be careful of slippery rocks/stairs and exposed roots but otherwise perfect.

Our tour guide, Maria Martinez, was excellent. She was a wealth of knowledge about the Mayan culture and the Ruins. It is amazing to see the Ruins and try to imagine how these pyramids were built so long ago. Maria made sure we were able to see all the Ruins and provided us ample time to explore and take pictures.... More

While cruising on Norwegian we decided to do the Chacchoben Ruins tour. I booked the tour through Costa Maya Tucan Tours, which was much cheaper than booking through the ship. We rode in nice vans to the ruins and was provided water as well as our tour guide bought us fresh pineapple to eat on the way. I enjoyed that... More

We used native choice tours out of Costa maya. Our guide was Joel and he was fabulous. Very very knowledgeable. Friendly. We had a great time and learned so much. Make sure you pack a few school supplies for the village children. They can use it and really appreciate it.

We visited in November 2014, on an excursion from our cruise on Holland America Ms. Ryndam! Our tour guide was very informative, and the tour was excellent, about 1.5 hours from start to finish. Recommend this tour if visiting. Bring rain gear and sturdy walking shoes.
