Bunaken is very popular with people wanting to see the beatiful coral reef. It's a small island and if you are not into snorkeling, then it may not be that worth while in my opinion.

It was my first dive experience. despite it was not deep enough to feel the real dive. I can feel the excitement. I don't have diving licence, luckily, there is a diving vendor that offering diving without licence which will be accompany by instructor. I'm still feel the dive euphoria for a weeks. Yes, it did match our expectations .... But good snorkeling is found at the reef drop off, and depending on where your are at the island, you have to swim quiet a bit from the shore. So often better to organise a boat trip. Diving is also fantastic. We stopped counting turtles .... Visibility was around 30 to 40m. A... More

Some of the best wall dives with moderate currents. Suitable for advanced divers looking for something more than ordinary. Shipwreck molas divesite was great. So as bunaken and siladen. Lots of turtles.

I came here with friend to enjoy the underwater view, but when our guid took us to the one of snorkeling spot, its very disapointed, just a bunch of death coral. Lucky for us, we still can see various fish. Maybe the best view only available when you go deep with diving.

Some fine wall diving, but the repeated dives at Bunaken Island with fairly strong currents at some dive sites and average visibility over 5 days became a bit boring. The best dive sites were 'Lekuan' 2 and 3, 'Muka Kampung' and 'Tanjung Pasir' (Sand Corner) all at Bunaken Island, and the 'Molas Shipwreck' off North Sulawesi, which we could have... More

The Bunaken Island is quite big, with 3 villages on it. Some of the village people work for local dive shops on the island. This big island offers a lot of dive sites, mainly wall dives, with small fish frenzy and big turtle roaming. Some creatures good at camouflage can only be found by experienced eyes of local DMs. The... More

Overcrowded, noisy, polluted. Horrible. I cancelled my booking and left. Won't go back there either. Avoid!

The basic fact is that the wall diving and the 'lip' snorkeling were outstanding. The variety of fish was astonishing. And the great thing is that it is all easily accessible: Great dive lodges are right there - no need for expensive liveaboards. Short boat rides to great dive sites on Bunaken; a sincerely world-class house reef for snorkeling on... More
