I love visiting this temple with its beautiful structures and fun shopping & eating areas. Its easy access to main trains and the water buses are also a big plus.

Sensoji is a major tourist destination, not one of the typically quiet shrines that are found throughout Tokyo. I's physically spectacular, with wonderful gates with huge statues, several large buildings, and a huge red paper lantern that weighs 1482 pounds. Lots of people go there particularly in the afternoon. For 100 yen you can shake a box to pick a...

So many people visit this temple. I washed my hands and threw in money and clapped my hands right along many Japanese worshippers. Of course, I did souvenir shopping in the street leading up to the temple. Many people from abroad love to visit this temple.
Great place to visit. It's located near the busiest areas of Tokyo and a good place to visit to get away from the stress of work.
Yes there are crowds and it can feel a bit touristy but it covers many aspects of Japanese culture in one spot. Temple ritual in its many facets, temple layout and architecture on a grand scale and a chance to do some gift shopping also. Try the local treat: red bean 'cakes' fresh from the bakers hand.
When you enter the temple precincts, there is a cauldron with incense burning and people crowding around to get the smoke into their hair and on their heads. Many interesting things to see, and a whole street of souvenir shops, many of which are quite tempting. A good place for people-watching.
Very interesting. Special the street with traditional souvenir shops! It is an old japanese temple. You can see people praying and washing their hands in traditional way.
A very busy site in Tokyo but very interesting to see. Open all day so plan your visit whenever you like! The streets surrounding the temple are busy and full of a lot of local, but fairly touristy shops, but interesting nonetheless.
The gardens, temple and pagoda are all worth seeing and you can easily see why the temple is...

The Taito area is older and less 'hectic' than its Shinjuku or Shibuya counterparts. In the area surrounding the shrine, you can find rickshaw rides, tons of shops for food and souveniers, and good people watching. There is also a Travelex currency exchange in the office building across the street from the temple entrance.
Once you enter through the detailed...

It is Golden Week in Tokyo so the Sensoji Temple area was very crowded -- though very much worth the trip. The Temple is stunning to see. There is so much more here than the Temple. Tons of shopping with lots of Japanese souvenirs, many restaurants, rickshaw rides ... just a great area to spend half a day at. I...
