This feels like the centre of French pastry universe outside of France. I spent one Tokyo afternoon there. Hours, literally. You can spot some of the world's best patissiers having a mini-store or a booth here, including Pierre Hermes, Marc Debailleul, Sadaharu Aoki, Henri Charpentier, Sebastien Bouillet, Jean-Paul Hevin and more! If these names don't ring a bell, then simply... More

A uniquely Japanese department store - when the staff go into a corridor, they bow to the room then exit walking backwards! The gigantic food hall in the basement is fantastic, featuring raw ingredients like enormous octopus testicles, as well as an huge array of delicious (but expensive) bento boxes and cakes. More

This was my favorite food hall among all the 'depatchikas' throughout Tokyo. The presentation and sheer volume of food products from all over the world was amazing. The only place I can compare it to is Harrod's in London. More

It doesn't get much better than this. Check out the food basement. Haven't seen anything like it before. Football fields of food, some prepared, some like a grocery store. Your visit to Shinjuku isn't complete without a stop here. Great for lunch or a snack. More

The department store is huge. If you have the preference of getting premium hip Japanese brands like Yohji Yamamoto, Junya Watanabe, Commes des Gargons. There are also international brands like Burberry Blue, Jil Sander, Marc Jacob. But don't go there during their public holiday, so packed that you would have thought it's X'mas in Walmart. Don't go if you're looking... More

Although the weak dollar made clothing purchases unrealistic, I loved browsing the men's department here before going to the utterly amazing food court in the basement of the main building. If only I had the equivalent of about $500, I could have gotten a really nice short-sleeved manga shirt, which would have been quite a souvenir. My financial situation being... More

This is the Lourvre, Metropolitan, Modern Museum of food presentation and beauty. Don't miss it. Don't be intimidated by the formality either - the sales people are lovely and ready to help. If in Tokyo visit the Isetan in Shinjuko and be carried away -- buy food too! More

This department store has own concept every season and completely different from other department in Japan. I like Basement 1F for food shops but it is so crowed all the time. There is so many choise. Fun but bit fancy for me especially for men. Here has some shops and selections which are only this department in Japan. worth to... More
