We stumbled on this museum while walking round. Amazed that it was free. There was a live link to a yacht in English which we really enjoyed. There are some interactive things which children and adults can enjoy.

We were in Alicante to watch the start of the VOR, so this was a must see for us. It would be better to see when the crowds are down, as they hurried us through (20 min.) and we weren't able to linger and read all the different exhibits. It looked amazing, and I would love to go through again... More

For all sail lovers this is a must see/visit. It tells you the story about the Whitbread race and the Volvo Ocean Race (VOR), the longest and toughest sailing race around the globe.

If you are interested in sailing or the sea you will enjoy the Volvo, formerly Whitbread, Round the World Race Museum. Alicante has now become the Start for the Race and the big crowds this year are a testament to its significance for Sailing and the interaction between sailors and the Oceans. The museum is a good introduction to the... More

Although I'd heard of the Volvo Ocean Race, this museum is a real eye opener and I'm so pleased that I visited it whilst in Alicante. In particular I could have stayed for hours to watch the video in the temporary space at the back of the museum and to gaze on the stunning photos.

We visited the Volvo Ocean Race Museum and is well set out and very educational to non sailors like us. The race is due to start the start of next month (October) and is held every 2yrs and the entrance to the exhibition/Museum is free. We had a good couple of hours inside and was very enjoyable and luckily for... More

I was on holiday in Spain, staying about 50 miles south of Alicante, and came up to this city 'blind' with the idea, that just to go out and take in what is on offer in front of you, I arrived in Alicante in my hired car, a very hard place to find parking by the way, so be prepared... More

If you have the slightest interest in sailing, make the time to visit this museum. The Volvo Ocean Race starts from Alicante this autumn, and for now, Museum entry is free. The pictures and videos give a real insight into what the competitors have to put up with living in a stripped-down Ocean Racer. There are interactive displays and even... More
