Quite nice walking around the back streets of Alicante, because on a really hot day they are rather shaded, so saves a Paddy like meself from boiling over! Anyway, came across this lovely church, St Mary's as we would call it back home! Worth a visit, nice place!

The history of the Basilica is quite interesting in itself which makes it worrth seeing for yourself. You are allowed in to see for free but no pictures allowed inside. Very elaborate inside with plenty of gold. Use to be a mosque and currently there is a project to restore the basilica. The square is pretty and there is a... More

Beautiful Church, in a nice little square not far from the beach. the alters are very ornate, no photos sign was a bit disappointing, but we honored it. Could have spent more time here.

This small Plaza has the Modern Art Museum and two nice bars. Take a moment for the Church. It is simple but just right for scale and, in fact, on the edge of the city.

Peaceful from the outside, (whilst waiting for a Segway practice session) the masonry work is beautiful. Inside is pretty and the kneeling recorder player at the exit must be there to draw in the curious.

Set just of the main road through Alicante is this large church which you could easily miss. You are welcome to go in and look around as long as you are quiet and respect those there to pray. The ceiling and alters are beautiful and bring some culture to your beach holiday!

A short walk away from the crowds on the main promenade. Beautiful - however, compared to the impressive cathedrals of major cities of Spain it was rather anticlimactic.
